In the past I've said that your sample choice on percussion was a weak point. You've definitely rectified this here. The drums are great and the groove with that ghost kick in there is probably the strongest part of the track. Like the vocal samples also, quite trippy sounding.

That said, again I'm not sold on the chord progression. It sounds far too dissonant. The bass seems to overpower a lot of the other elements as well. Just need to reign it in a bit.

Your over all mix and sound choices have progressed light years in the past 12 months for me.
It needs a bit of tweaking in the low end, but other than that you are definitely getting there.

My big advice for you going into 2023 is, as I've always said, make improving your chord progressions and melodies a priority.
Go all out in learning some better basic music theory. It's the main thing holding your music back at the moment, so you should put all your energy into improving it.

This is good advice and feedback from the Legend. Your production execution is improving but your track melodies and how they come together seem really off.

Maybe use reference tracks to try and capture a similar feel in your own way. I always feel like your tracks lack a clear genre (and not in a good way). However the one you inboxed me recently didn't have that issue, I liked that one.

Also, Iwhenever I open a track I am hoping for either groovey/rhythmic, deepness/atmospheric or driving/raw. Solid foundation to start making a track when you estbalish a clear identity, mood and feeling.

I've actually used a drum sample for the drums in some songs recently(in this one actually a whole sample with the kick) and I made the ghost kick which is the only contribution here.

In some I just use hi hats and shaker samples to get that extra something. I said a while ago I need to work on my chords and melodies the most, but I noticed in the last two months that my drums are not good enough. I see a lot of progress too, so that was quite a disappointment that I noticed my drums are basically at the same lvl for almost two years, but I am starting to get good seeing where I lack compared to other producers and work on it.

This will be my focus on the next few months actually since I think I am getting there a bit by bit and I am starting at least 2/3 demos every week to practise on things I think I need to work on. So yeah chords/melodies and drums will be my main focus.

Also recently I seem stuck into doing the same stuff and not being able to generate original ideas like I used too, so I am getting ready to go through a lot of tutorials which seems to spark even new ideas, not just what they are teaching me. Also definitely more messing and experimenting rather than using what I know so I can stay inside my comfortable zone.

Edit: yeah I lowered the base a bit, its a cool simple bass groove, but I always put it too strong in my original versions/drafts.
