Really like the drum breaks. Don't like the kick though, too subby for this track. A punchier, more organic sounding kick would have worked better with the rest of the drums imo.

Gated ethnic vocals and flutey samples are very nice. Proper Future Sound of London/Bicep Vibes.

Like the reece bass, but not sure on the chord progression though, just not sure it fits the track.

Overall some really good stuff in here. As I said, the breaks and samples are great and a great foundation for a track.
Would definitely like to hear you explore this sound more!

Yeah, I agree with the 'Legend, like, fully, especially regarding the more "technical" side of it. You could've done with a better/richer/more organic kick.

That said... Loving some of the ideas - this definitely feels like an early 90s track, and not just because of the samples. The experimentation/creativity is what makes it, and not enough of producers who try to mimic the 90s sounds even seem to be aware of this.

Thank you.

As for the kick lately I have been using the 808 drum kit mostly out of laziness, but I think I know what you mean and the perfect kick. I have a trap drum kit with acoustic lick, I used it in some previous breakbeat songs. I think the 808 also gives it a deep 90s vibe to some degree. I was actually trying to 'copy' Bicep style, as for Future Sound of London I know them just by name, but I am definitely going to check them.

Oh btw the chords I actually throw some random chords in my song, I guess it's a miss/win situation. One thing that actually slows me down and probably slows my progress is that I have very basic understanding of music theory. I know about it, about chord progression but that just it. I was hoping to start some piano lessons and music theory, but might leave it for next year when money isn't that tight hopefully.

One thing I hate is that there isn't enough variety in the song. Funny I mostly opt for songs with no vocals or just small vocal parts. If one thing vocals makes it so easier and add a lot of variety.

This is definitely I style that I am going to explore more, I have two more demos one of which has a very interesting kind of experimental sound. I wrote the song just a few days after I made my first prog breaks mix. I've been telling in my shows for the past year that Trance Wax and his first album and then Bicep with their last one at the start of the year changed something in me with. I've definitely fallen in love with the style and I absolutely love the 90' vibes it gives.

I do believe I used the acoustic kick here to redrum the song:
