I've been trying for so long to crack the formula on my own and something just clicked last night. I decided to take a break for a night from all the djing lately. On one hand I noticed when I do crazy stuff like djing so much not only my djing, but my producing gets considerably better.

After 7 uplifting mixes in a row I started to understand a bit more for example about how some uplifting songs have insane amount of things happening in the high end and so much fucking compression.

I did watch a video tutorial on old school breakbeat while making the song which also gave me same clarity, but mostly led to the second piano melody.

While the song has it shortcomings, I am very happy that for the first time I managed to break the code. After so many breakbeat songs sounding too commercial and more like dance finally a prog breaks song that sounds like prog breaks.

The structure and some melodies are a bit simple, but i am happy overall, for the roughly 5 hours I spend on the song.

This is nice. Good sounds and beats. Could do with a bit more spice, like sound fx before a beat change comes in. Or automation with fx to add atmosphere and excitement before a change. But you say youve only done 5 hours on it, so very understandable . Are you working more on it? Nice vibe tho mate

I might now, I was just going to leave it as it is since I don't think it's something too special. I wasn't sure what exactly was missing.

Anyway I was thinking it's a decent attempt since from the 20+ attempts for prog breaks this the first one that doesn't just sound like breakbeat or electro pop/dance.

But now you've made me think.

Surprisingly majority of my songs are done within 5-10 hours. With just the mixing and some small changes at a later point because I always have trouble mixing something that played in my ears for 10 hours. I think it's something that happens when you DJ/produce/spend a lot of time on headphones and you ears get tired.
