Original Mix

Robert Nickson Remix

One of my favorite release on Anjunabeats. It brings back so many memories when I was traveling. I learned the vocals in the breakdown were sampled from a track called Woob - Odonna.

Both tracks are pretty good, although the melody sounds a bit off in places in my opinion.

I find this song so amazing, felt this way the first minute I heard it. There's something about the melody that gets to me. I've always tend to play the Original rather than the Nickson mix, but actually I cant hear much difference and enjoy both immensely. Wasn't Endre a very young lad when he made this, maybe 17 or something? Also nice little info on the sample there, thanks.

p.s @Reptile I used my mod powers to update your thread to match the (new) section rules. The short of it is that when posting remixes we do so with the Original Mix, to keep everything tidy in one thread. Thanks for posting!

One of my favorite tracks from Anjunabeats. Even though it still sounded like their usual Trance releases it also had a somewhat distinct feel to it.

Original for me always, if I had to choose. An all time classic from the Anjunabeats catalogue. Miss those days.

Nickson remixes from this period are out of this world. More or less the same time he did the Thomas Datt 2v2 remix, which is pretty much the only version of that track that ever got played

To add a little more detail, yes the speech was sampled from Woob - Odonna. I remember reading from Endre himself that he was listening to (I think) DI FM's ambient channel and just decided to grab the sample from whatever it was that was playing it the time. It seems like the original Woob track sampled it from an interview with cellist Yo Yo Ma, who often spoke about the idea of "infinite variety" in music, although nobody seems to know the exact interview.

Once again what we have is a few absolutely set things, you know, five strings, a certain number of permutations, but within those permutations, infinite variety.

Endre originally gave Kallocain away for free on a producers forum. His computer then died and he lost all the project files. I don't remember the exact story at this point, but somehow it ended up with Anjuna who wanted to release it, and he recreated the original mix from scratch. Here is a copy of the original giveaway version, for anyone interested:

Original is to fluffy and soft, Robert Nickson remix all the way. I know Endre himself hated this remix

This track is better than how I remember it.

Agreed. As soon as the main melody kicked in at 2:21 (original mix) something immediately felt off. The more elaborate melody at 5:11 also feels off.

Damn, this is good man. This would easily fit on those old euphoria/angelz chill trance comps. Very nicely executed and put together.
