Most of the tracks here mentioned are Trance. I wouldve classed Sash! tracks as Euro Dance - but then again, something like Mysterious Times has very Trancy melodies and riffs.

Its a broad spectrum of 'Trance'.....i just dont think a lot of people here want to admit certain tracks are haha. But at the end of the day,its down to personal opinion.
With Sash! it's tricky. That's probably the tranciest eurodance producer that existed. Encore Une Fois is right at the trance/eurodance line, leaning toward eurodance but almost stepping in trance. The Future Breeze remix is unquestionably trance, though. There's no distinction between it and similar trance tracks from the era like Lock - Into the Sun.

Ok, I'm outta here.
Out of the Blue definitely falls under the category "too cheesy to be trance" for some people.
I think it's cheesy, but it's still trance. It doesn't really fit with Eurodance or even "commercial dance music."

Id say Mauro Picotto is an even better example than Sash, with a thin line between commercial dance and simply ‘trance’.

That's a good one. His more commercial tracks like Komodo are right at the intersection between commercial dance, trance, and hard house. His basslines are very much non-trance and instead belong to hard house.
Then he started producing sick techno and tech-trance.

I think its mostly the video that gives that impression although the song has some elements from eurotrance not eurodance. It's important to mention that euro trance evolved from eurodance, but its considered a sub trance style.

On a different note open question to everybody Brooklyn Bounce are what style? For me they don't fall under any style and like Prodigy they have their unique style/sound that lives on its own. I always wondered about them, saw someone mentioned them above.

I'd never heard of them, but after checking out some of their songs they are clearly hard trance + commercial dance music ("euro trance" too if you want to add that). They really don't have one specific style, but instead blend multiple genres together.
The Prodigy are firmly "big beat" along with Fatboy Slim and the Chemical Brothers.

Euro trance is a weird subgenre. Normally you would think that it's just trance with eurodance-y elements, but a lot of those tracks also fall within the other flavors of uplifting (ex. epic trance, Dutch trance, anthem trance, uplifting trance, each with their own quirks). Of course, once you start getting really into it you're back in the late '90s/early 2000s when people wanted to assign specific subgenres to everything.

If we go by Ishkur's old guide to electronic music, Out of the Blue is firmly Dutch trance (along with Rank 1 - Airwave), and Sandstorm is anthem trance (which is the same subgenre as Transa). Then again, Ishkur considers Castles in the Sky and Better Off Alone as epic trance, which is the same subgenre as For an Angel and Synaesthesia, so... o_O ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No... That story about all those trance ‘subgenres’... you really shouldn’t keep using those silly subgenre labels just because some random guy put it on a website or made a silly genre-image once.

The whole “epic” “anthem” “dutch” trance. They dont exist. Made up by uninformed people. They dont represent a specific sound anyway, thus not being useful. I mean... take “anthem trance”. When would something be anthemic? Any track has a certain theme... and when is it “Epic”?

You also say people “really wanted to make new subgenres back then”. Again, no. Its just because teenagers didnt know, and started naming Dj Sammy Heaven “techno” (which obviously is wrong). Its because they didnt know anything.

No fanatic trance listener in 2000 would call Castle In The Sky “Epic trance”. Just like nobody would call Sandstorm “anthem trance”. Real fanatic trance fans would dismiss those tracks simply saying its not trance at all, just “cheese” for the radio.

If you see a YouTube comment on Better Off Alone saying “this is the best Epic trance!!”, then thats not a good source. Just a noob who might as well call DJ Sammy Heaven “techno”.

(Dont want to be harsh. Ive told you something in the past in another post I think 😆)

Back in ~2000 trance was the most popular "dance" subgenre. So any commercial act would mix trance, with pop. And the result is Kate Ryan, Milk Inc, Sylver, Lasgo, Ian van Dahl, DJ Sammy, Jan Wayne etc. But also think about tracks like Jennifer Lopez - Waiting For Tonight, or Madonna - Ray Of Lights.
You have great points if you look on Sylver - Turn the tide from 2001 and then turn the tide 2010 version you can se the influence. In 2001 trance was popular and because of that the song sounded like it sounded, and then 2010 version Not big mistery.
And what is better/sounds better it is about personal preferences.

Yeah I didn't meant like the same style more like being like them having unique sound and elements unique to their own even if they are close to hard trance and eurodance.

Yeah, I wouldn't call Castles in the Sky or Better Off Alone "epic trance" 🤣

To be fair, "real trance fans" from 2000 would have dismissed any trance track that became mildly famous, including things like Rank 1 - Airwave. Anything that wasn't Platipus, Oliver Lieb, Sasha & Digweed, Breeder style progressive was going to be dismissed.
If you see a YouTube comment on Better Off Alone saying “this is the best Epic trance!!”, then thats not a good source. Just a noob who might as well call DJ Sammy Heaven “techno”.
Exactly.

Xpander is more tranzy than any Hard Trance tune from the era, is it too housey for you? Kerri Chandler would not play a Sasha tune in his sets, thats for sure..

I put the emoji there for a reason. You say "trancy" and I agree. That's as far i would label it. And dont get me wrong, im fully aware what most people call xpander
