Maybe the lack of Tiesto made him produce a solo and he wanted to try, but in Ligaya, for example, there was no idea for the track? The new Gouryella is System F, I definitely agree with that because it is enough to listen carefully and see what other alias is taking the style. In 2015, the whole world said that Anahera is an 80% copy of System F - The Sonnet.
The conclusion? He did not want to move System F, he took it for reviving Gouryella and so we have Gouryella which sounds like a modern System F.

If someone is the fun of a given artist, he also has the right (literally and figuratively) to demand new sounds and transitions. That this alias was somehow livened up with new melodies and not artificially hackneyed samples that everyone knows and can listen to. But that is my subjective opinion ;)

Tiesto never really had anything to do with the original Gouryellas,it was all Ferrys production...we know now how many ghost producers were working for Tiesto in his tracks. Not sure what youre point about Ligaya is,that was in true Gouryella style as much as the first ones,he wrote it alongside John Ewbank in a classical melody.

But...I agree the modern Gouryella tracks have lost that classical melody style and are more suited to be System F tracks.

Gouryella and Walhalla sound sampled. Tenshi and Ligaya each differently. If I had to look for the reason, then with Tenshi Tiesto he was not willing to work, because it was not what he expected. Hence, after the release of Ligaya, a break-up ensued. And I do not believe that Tiesto somehow did not help with the first productions, because even when it was signed, in archival interviews he talked about cooperation with Corsten with a smile.

We'll never know for sure what Tiesto did with respect to the Gouryella tracks, but I don't think Gouryella was entirely Ferry either. Someone, whether Tiesto or his ghost producers, probably pushed Ferry to make old Gouryella sound the way it did. Gouryella was more polished than System F/ Moonman/Pulp Victim (just look at Gouryella - Gouryella vs. System F - Out of the Blue), and it feels punchier/more apt for large sound systems.
My guess is that Ferry produced the Gouryella tracks in the studio by himself with input from Tiesto et al., who ensured the tracks sounded clubbier and harder. There's something missing from modern Gouryella, and that same something is also missing from System F.

Tiesto was not involved with Ligaya. I don't think there's any evidence that they ever had difficulties or fell out. You can hear a little of Tiesto's influence in Tenshi if you compare it to, say, Theme From Norefjell or Sparkles.

You can also hear how their other project "Vimana" is closer to Tiesto's sound than Ferry's. If I had to, I would guess Gouryella was produced and mixed at Ferry's studio and Vimana at Tiesto's.

No wonder it's my least-liked Gouryella production of the main 4. It feels like it lacks something compared to the other 3.

there is simply no winning
I don't really agree with you saying it's either this or that.

I call it "Anahera much" because it sounds exactly the same. It's the same synth, the same melody-rhytm. The same kick-rolls at the end of a section. The same sort of bass sounds. I bet it's made in the Anahera project, and then moved some things around, and that's this new track.

The "style" is great, I love Ferry making melodic trance anthems. But (the track) Gouryella, Walhalla, Tenshi, Ligaya, and even Anahera (re-used System F melody aside) sound unique. They all have their own sounds, their own synths, their own melodies, build-up, FX, everything.

Completely new set of sounds > Yet same style and recognizeable > Great artist.

Ferry is capable of that. But this track is not of that high standard. It's a previous project re-used.

Its probably really easy to use the same template nowadays..back in the day they started from scratch everytime as the DAWS werent as advanced. And producers get lazier over time..even Ferry hehe. But they rely on their already established sound...the harder work was in the earlier years lol.

Why?

A fan is someone who likes X product by X artist.

how do you go from:
* I like it, (and perhaps purchased X product )
* therefor I get to have the right demand what the artist makes from here on out based on my personal taste, ?

how exactly does your affection turn X artist into your (preverbial) "artistic slave" precisely? ( and how is that not just a massive (false) sense of entitlement on , in this case, your part)
your transaction/contract ended when you bought say, the mp3.. what does the artist ow you after that precisely?

hell, m8...how are you even going to enforce your so called "right?" call the police if he tells you to f off?

my comment was about you, as an artist, never being able to satisfy your existing or new base 100 %.. theres always someone or group who will object to you doing or not doing something in this case... it sais nothing about not being able to critize m8.. personally i agree.. the track is bland. but i would never "demand" x of him. he can do whatever he damn well pleases.. and the market decides.

Again, because I see that someone has not understood my subjective opinion. The artist is required to produce something fresh, in the case of Gouryella I would like (but it's only my dream) that he would work with someone and make a piece, eg Geert Huinink, to use this piece somehow with new Piano, Piano, Violin or Choir melodies. And not from Anahera, it follows the same well-known style that everyone knows by heart. Corsten does the bank himself and has ready-made styles and uses in production. Orenda will not have a thick support like previous productions, why? Repeatability and the use of style. From the producer, for example Gouda, the customer also has the right to demand a little change of taste, not repetition.

no, I understood that that is your subjective opinion. which you're fine to hold by the way..

what I don't understand is WHY that is your subjective opinion. How did you form it/ What is the logos/ethos behind it? that was my question. not what was your opinion on this, which is clear to me, and i might even agree to the extend that I think the track is nothing special and that he could (not should!) do better.

You're basically of the opinion that a customer can make demands of an artist in the same way a customer can make demands in a supermarket. which is a flawed parallel, since 1 you haven't actually purchased the (new) product therefor you are not a customer. you're at best a potential customer. and 2, An artistic direction is not a product. a product, at best, stems from that.

Now you can of course choose not to buy or berate a piece of music which is fine. but you don't get to demand of an artist what to make just because you liked his previous work, even if you're of the opinion that you have or should have that right, (which you factually don't). You have no way of enforcing it.

In the same way that you can of course complain or return a product to the supermarket if its not on par or to you're liking.. But you don't get to demand of the supermarket what to sell to you. Or of Gouda, that they change their recipe for you.. (At best you can make a suggestion.. but no demand.)

Look at Gaia

You must be kidding here? Armin lost the plot ages ago. At least Ferry is bringing some quality nowadays.

The sample is pretty short, but judging from that this sounds awesome.

Sorry... This is Anahera version 2.0. It's already boring for me that Ferry follows the same style and nothing changes in this alias. Eg Collab with Armin or A&F.
Why change a winning formula 🤔

If a given artist produces in the same style, sooner or later he will lose a crowd of fans anyway. Why? Look at Aly & Fila (EXAMPLE) since 2003, they have been producing Uplifting Trance because they are famous for it, but they can't or they have released songs in a different style like Progressive Trance or CHILL. Which is understandable because if someone is fun, he also needs the artist to change the subgenre of music and start to combine. There are many people who have changed that. For example The Thrillseekers and Hydra - Affinity as Uplift and after 13 years now as Progressive and Uplifting. The music lover must also "require" changes in some songs if it is to stimulate somehow, because a given artist, driving the same style, will not attract a lot of fun for a long time.

yup, I agree. you still haven't answered my question as to why you think fans therefor get to demand stuff.

they're free to walk away, but I think you're confusing Customer with Boss. A Customer gets to complain and suggest. A Boss gets to Demand and reprimand. (and in the worst case fire)

you're not ferry's boss. you're his, potential, customer, therefor you don't get to demand.

Its a bit black ‘n white though.

As trance producer you have a select group of fans. Some have been supporting you since 1999. They spent hundreds, maybe thousands of euro’s on cd’s, vinyls, mp3’s, and also important: tickets to events where you play.

A little loyalty towards the people who make it possible for you to “live the musical dream”, is perhaps morally right.

At least to some degree. So its not so much ‘demanding’, but a request to re-evaluate your morals as a human being 😉

Ferry tries to be loyal though. The Gouryella tracks are an example of that. This particular one seems a bit lazy though.
