The 'farty' modern sounds go as far back as early-2000's Mauro Picotto. I would say that's the best part, actually.
The deep melody is fine. High-hats just feel off, like they were chosen sloppily. The high-pitched melody starting at 1:16 is one of the weaker parts of this track.
