MOD: This thread is about software AND hardware for music production and DJing. Feel free to discuss and share opinions.

Hello all, I am a huge fabfilter fan. I use cubase as main daw and find fabfilter to sound leaps better than my built in tools. How about you guys?

My main synths are nexus and spire. I do have omnispehere and it sounds great, but the cpu is too much for me. Love to chat production.

FabFilter is...well, fab. So simple and easy to use, their EQ is the best in the game. Waves are also making...waves (sorry I won't do it anymore) with their high-quality effects. For the synths, can't go wrong with basically anything from u-he (and also their effects!) and Omnisphere.

S o true. Fab is fab. I use the eq on everything and their distortion just because, lol

The only uhe I own is satin, but I do like the looks of diva. Omnispehere!! So good my computer blows up :) Spire has been so good to me cpu wise I am not sure where else to look. Thanks for the reply. I love chatting this stuff.

Ableton 11 user here.

For synths, my go-to's are Sylynth, Spire, Serum and VITAL.

Not really dived into the Fabfilter stuff (A bit out of my price range tbh) although I tend to only buy plugins now if I think they are genuinely offer something that I don't already have.

Between EQ8 and Ozones EQ and dynamic EQ that usually covers my needs in that department.

My last 2 purchases were Soundtoys Decapitator, as I'd been on the lookout for a good high quality saturation device (I also managed to get it at a reasonable discount a few months ago) and very recently purchased TB Pro Audio's 'DSEQ' after trying out the demo version.
It's a Dynamic EQ with AI learning built in, which is meant to be used on BUS or master channels to identify and remove harsh or resonant frequencies.
It's very similar to Oeksounds 'Soothe 2' but at a cheaper price point.

Been putting it through some tests over the past couple of weeks and I'm very happy with it tbh!

I would say I am really close to having what I consider all the tools to make a sound I really want. I am not even sure if ill update my daw again.

The Novation 'V Station' and 'B Station' VST's are now free to download from the Novation website for any of you looking for some of those early 2000's synth sounds!

They've included x64 bit versions for both and a VST3 version for V Station. Managed to get them both working on the current version of Ableton pretty easily!

Dune3 by Synapse Audio is my go to synth vst for trance sounds.

Its the only vst I have that i bought at full rrp price. (I usually look for vsts that are on sale).

Dune3 is capable of so much, seems to be such an underrated synth. Its been called the closest in sound to a Access Vrus that a vst has come.

The kv331 synthmaster vsts are also ones i use a lot for a trance sound.

cherry Audio’s juno 106 vst is also one i seem to be able to get good sounds outta with a bit of added fx. Especially good for that retro edge!
