Interesting compilation. I'm pretty sure most veterans here will know most, if not all, of these tunes 😊 The older ones are definitely new for me though, it's always nice to hear something 'new' and well-curated like this.

Quoting from this review:
The storied history of trance has long been Eurocentric. While the 1990s trance boom was dominated by European hits, DJ superstars, and megaclubs, a parallel movement was flourishing across the United States. Hypnotised: A Journey Through American Trance Music (1992–2002), compiled by Dutch historian Arjan Rietveld, spotlights this scene, charting a decade of American Trance across its distinct regional styles.

This is the fifth entry in Rietveld’s Hypnotised series. While the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, and Belgium have all received ample historical treatment in trance’s official canon, the U.S. tends to be written off as a secondary player—fragmented, underground, and too late to cohere into a scene. In contrast to the anthemic euphoria of Euro-trance, the American sound has been more driving, progressive, and tribal. Less focused on big melodies, U.S. trance drew on local rave culture, from New York’s warehouses to Florida’s psychedelia to the desert raves of the Southwest. For those of us who came of age during this time, this music was an entire world of sound.

So there were also other installments released in the past on bandcamp, including vinyls, and also a book for the Dutch version!
This one was also released on Beatport, otherwise I would have missed it as well.

To be honest, there are full of names that I don't know in the tracklist. Surprise that there are so many trance classics from America, I used to think that America is a trance desert haha. Maybe Asia next time, but do Black Hole have enough money for those Ayumi Hamasaki hits?

Interesting compilation series indeed. Sylvane - Voices is lovely, and also new to me. This American version sounds so diverse. Not all the tracks are my cup of tea, but love that they're not all about big melodies.

good to see 'Aurasfere', 'Symphony Of Love' and 'Bio-Dreams' on the compilation!

I have listened to all previous 'Hypnotised' compilations (Belgium, Dutch, UK, German) some time ago and sincerely, those tracklists are super strange and not representative as they seem. not to critisite someones effort, im glad 'Blackhole' is trying to release such compilations, but adding Dj Sakin', 'Cj Stone' or 'ATB - Let You Go' on the 'German' version is way too much, also many important tracks are missing

One trance track I would have liked to see on this compilation was Slyder - Score. Probably one of the greatest Trance tunes to come out of America.
But maybe they didnt want it associated with GTA3 😆
Ive bought every series so far and this was no exception but probably my least favourite of the series.
