I was told this.....

I was told I need to find my sound. It got me thinking. What is my sound. I am struggling to know if it matters and to obtain my sound. I like many things and therefore my tracks are kind of all over. Is that an issue?

breadth vs. depth, and what makes you unique.
Without hearing your content, it sounds like you're experimenting with a lot of different sounds. That is fine, but there might be nothing cohesive about what you're making... i.e., there's no you that stands out in your productions, and that should be evident even if you use completely different sounds.
In words, it's a bit abstract. Think about the career progression of some producers, and notice how throughout the years they retained a 'sound' even if their styles changed.

I wonder if using two names is worth it then. One I can do trance and the other I can make w/e. I like trance for the sounds not because I think ill be rich. I like other stuff because it teaches me how to be a better producer, I need both

Hey mate, please try to name your threads more appropriately. This title is a bit too vague and non-specific.

You can do that, but either way I think you will still show regardless of what you actually produce. You could go from, say, super-hyped up pop to mellow R&B, but whatever you make in those genres will have enough in common to show that these are your productions and no one else's.

If you want to develop multiple signatures sounds under different monikers, that's fine. I think the key here is that you haven't made a single signature sound that tells people "yep, this is definitely @Br8k L3gnd." And this is easier said than done, because you'll probably have to produce dozens (if not hundreds) of tracks before you figure out what you want your sound to be.

m8, I have like 6 aliases.

as for uniqueness, You and your brain are already unique, That being said what helps me "distinct" among which is my own (unique) set of instruments.

so plugins and hardware that, complimentairy to the more common stuff, add to my "own" sound.

For starters, please take the numbers out of your artist name, imo its just ugly to read and its something a kid would do. Its also going to be harder for people to search for you..
the name comes up easy. I am not a kid, but I like it.

I have learned a lot from forums and discords... I think I wont need them very soon. I really dont know of anyone thats doing major things sitting in forums. I could be wrong, but its my observation.

When I started and sold my lawn biz, I never went to forums. I may have taken the wrong approach in music. Lessons are lessons :)

Correct. You're better off making more music.
Keep trying. Keep figuring out what sounds are you. Keep making 'bad' music. You'll get better every time. Eventually, you'll make something great.

I'm rooting for you!

I think if you go looking for a signature sound, you'll drive yourself mad.
These things seem to be more organic with each producer and I think it comes with making a track how you want it to sound for your first draft before editing it down into something more contemporary (if that makes sense)

Just produce generic template uplifting... Problem solved.

Also, rename the thread.

Would've been funny if it was the first time, and if Alex actually made his own stuff. 😂
