Deep, mysterious sounds. Only a short sample, cool sounds, looking forward to the big one.

I agree with you; On a technical level this is a 10/10 track as always from John himself, but I just can't get into the rather minimalistic approach. I can only name a couple of releases from the last 2-3 years I've enjoyed and most of them are from TDB.

What happened to tracks like this one? It's progressive and 100% J00F sound, but filled with so much atmosphere and energy.
It's actually one of my favourite tracks in J00F's entire discography

This does nothing for me yet again.

Can probably count on one hand the number of releases I've enjoyed from the label in the last 4-5 years. Huge shame, considering I absolutely loved their music between 2010 and 2016 or so. They were my #1 go-to label during those years.

Completely agree Rok, I was buying so many records from them in 2010-2017 and was my no1 label too. I think there were many tracks that still sounded like this still but also many with a lot more colour and life to them, certainly more edge in the beatwork. I mean think about Johns album One Hundred Ten, that is very expressive and lots of memorability to it. I think I need to start listening to JOOF radio again more regularly because no doubt there is good music there it just really became stale overal for me. You cant really fault him though, he is releasing and making what he loves, it's an authentic endevour just not really for me unfortunately. Also giving platforms to unknowns.

Btw guys this one from 2018 was great. Clearly resonated with the scene too, 152k views is huge for them.

The writing was on the wall that far back. Once JOOF decreased the tempo and became more like deep house, quality decreased a lot.
Now all their tracks are basically club filler.

It's a far cry from the days of Nine Lives and One Hundred Ten, which was peak JOOF.

Yeah this is nice, just really forgettable. Like the Lord Hens, I am really not into this style the legends are making/releasing. I mean just 8 years ago John had an amazing album (one of the best modern trance albums), and Airwave (the co-producer) released Reus Calling in 2015 and Laia's Daydream under Lolo in 2014, so we know they still have it in them, in these modern times. But unfortunately the market seems to be dictating the style...

I'm of the same opinion as everyone else. This deep rog JOOF sound, while exceptionally produced, simply does nothing for me. It lacks emotion and a sense of journey, which so many of his tracks took me on back in the day. My only hope is that he keeps things close to the roots with the 3rd 00.db opus

He's never been the greatest of producers tbh. Can't think of anything that make me go WOW. Aside from maybe the remix of Spiritual Light. Brilliant DJ, yes. This essential mix a case in point

As for his current sound he's gone too far down the spectrum towards dark monotonous prog. Always had a penchant for this type of music but mixed it up with some quality melodic trance. Now the last JOOF shows I listened to were from last year and he didn't play a single melodic track.

Damn, that Karova - Still Secrets (Manhattan New York Mix) is sweet, really gets you going.

Might not be any melody in this mix but it has so much groove and energy to make up for that. It grabs you by the balls. It is punctuated with some melodic moments though, Airwave - Innerspace is in there as is DB - Legato.

This is boring, just like most of the recent prog mixes on his show. Funnily enough this is what I fought about with his workers Glenn on his forum and they shut it down obviously, they felt I came across too negative. Now, he is heading towards the path like A&B and Armin very watered down sound.

It's heart breaking that he got rid of the word 'Trance' from his show. What happened to all that talk about bringing back sound of Trance. All talk and no substance. I don't know why I bother.

Still better than most of Bodzin-wannabe tracks you'll find on many progressive/melodic techno sets nowadays.
But yes, I don't dig the minimalistic approach too. Those kick and whispery hi hats/shakers is a turn off most of time.

Could be it's just that hard to find new tracks that qualify as trance for his show.
Can't rely on Joof or all the big names alone to bring it back. For me, their time has passed. It's been years and keep hoping from them just doesn't make sense anymore. There should be a regeneration.
