John Askew’s debut original on Armin van Buuren’s Armind imprint, ‘Aces Hi’ is exactly the uplifting masterpiece you’d expect from one of trance music’s staple producers. From its limitless energy to the main melody drench in euphoria, this track will make any mainstage crowd go bonkers.

Well its fine, but still lacking some punch for me. Pretty good for Armind standard these days though.

Jesus Christ, just look at the keywords and the SEO optimization here.

The track doesn't do anything for me.

Sounds like he's trying to capture the spirit of the stresstest remix and not quite getting it. Dave's production always sounds too clean and sterile nowadays.

why the hell is it on armind

Love it when John goes for off rhythm arpeggios and staccatos! The groove does indeed remind me of his Night Vision sound from the 2010-2012 period. I do think that the main lead is too subtle for this type of track and the note progression could have been better fleshed out, although I guess the final two notes try to be a bit erratic on purpose to go with the arpeggios earlier in the track.

Overall I have to agree with @Redrot, it feels like John took a lot of inspiration from Stresstest and decided to soften up by quite a lot the soundscape to give us a happy-sounding track instead of an acid-induced fest
