A JOC track which feels like it would have been a huge hit back then and probably became a classic for the wider trance community.
Find Yourself is interesting at that point in his career. Although it shares many qualities with late 2000s ASOT style trance, especially all the background pads, at its core it feels more similar to early 2000s Motorcycle/Gabriel and Dresden. It's less technical than Big Sky (released two years before) and his Inertia productions. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a passion project JOC made based on other producers' work that he enjoyed.
Find Yourself was also a Zyzz (Australian bodybuilder) favorite, and in the videos for this track you will see references to him.
For the track itself...
It is oddly euphoric yet melancholic. The lyrics appear positive, suggesting the listener to view life "through a loaded gun" and "take the best shot," aimed at the sun. Then, the track suggests the listener will find him/herself alone and let go "of the ones we break." I wonder what emotions were going through the songwriter's mind. To me, it would have been more consistent with the first part to say alive rather than alone, but then the second part would have made no sense.
