I'm sure most people know that Suburban Train is a remake of Re-form. Another confusing thing is that Re-Form came with a Tiesto remix when originally released.

I can't decide which version I like the most. Tiesto's version is the most polished production but the original has the magic and rawness of being the original, as the artist intended it to be.
Have a listen a decide for yourself

Tiesto remixed the original? Thats something I never knew, although not rating that,. I like the bass and percs from the original, but the synths from Suburban Train.

I think the original Re-form feels like it's missing something, like it lacks polish. It's more "raw," but not in a good sense. It's more like an unfinished work. Suburban Train was such a big improvement over it while still feeling organic.

100% with Dmgtz.

The Tiesto team just had a great ear for potential. Suburban Train is a rework of the greatest quality. Of an original that would have been forgotten.

Just like Olympic Flame is based on Rah - Pole Position (Airbase Remix). Of course respect for the original composers. Without them, those tracks would not exist. But these Tiesto tracks are a great improvement...

Just had a look at Discogs, and Suburban Train is produced by Tiesto (not sure who though, as only "Tiesto" is credited) and Ronald van Gelderen (AKA Kid Vicious). Suburban Train was not just a remake, it was a full-fledged collaboration.

Well, that's very doubtful.

I don't think Ronald actually sat in the studio to "reform" (nice pun) his own track into Suburban Train. I think it's just a polite "credit" thing, since it's so obviously based on his track Reform. Actually, I found this in an old interview with Ronald van Gelderen that confirms that. Translated from Dutch by meself:

"That remix of Re-Form inspired Tijs to make a new track, Urban Train, which was similar to my track. He proposed to release it as a collab, and not only as his own track. Very polite from him".

You could be right. My statement was based on Ronald's bio on Discogs:

The first release under Kid Vicious name was "Paraphrase" and the follow-up single "Re-Form", with on the b-side a mix by DJ Tiesto, was also a very big clubhit. This track proved to be the right collaboration for Tiesto & Ronald to produce the "Suburban Train" hit for the DJ Tiesto act together and the single entered the UK single chart at #22.

Suburban Train is a rework of the greatest quality
For me the original has a certain magic that edges it over ST. Whilst I can appreciate ST is a much more polished production and 'sounds' better, I'm psychologically drawn to the original work.

Kid Vicious fucking sucks, never heard a good tune from him. The Tiesto version is a fucking masterpiece compared to the boring original

Proceed was also really good. Iirc Ferry himself played Proceed at the very end of a set, so he must have thought it was quality.

Yeah... and what about Traffic and Psykofuk?

As Sean Deason decsribed it himself, after he received a package from Tiesto's people containing the track and a license deal: "At first, I did not get it. I did not recognize anything. What did he sample from me? But then it hit me. I am this track. This is me."

Haha, not only did he employ ghost producers, but he employed ghost producers who used others' ideas heavily. Wow...

Traffic is better than Psykofuk and still sounds 'modern'
To be honest, I can see why Psykofuk was confused. If Tiesto's people showed him the full-length original mix of Traffic, then he had to wait for a solid 2:15 minutes before the Psykofuk part started.
