Marino was a Belgian producer who died in 1999 in a tragic car crash. He was on his way to DJ in a club together with MIKE Push, who later dedicated his track Till We Meet Again to his friend. He must have been only in his early 20s but was already one of the best and most respected producers in trance.

Trance lost a truly great talent, someone in the same league as Airwave or Push. But despite his young age Marino had already made and remixed a large number of tracks and will live on in memory as long as trance music exists.

His best known track was probably:

anther classic was

and this too is one of my personal favourites

Saturday, 30.06.2018 - it was the day when I realized how HUGE Marino Stephano discography was.

It was a Luminosity Beach Festival weekend, Saturday (and most likely the best day of my life).

Thomas Hoeflaak aka Dj Toyax has been announced there to play a tribute to Marino Stephano, and before the event I've known only 3 tracks from Marino - "C.M. - Dream Universe" (obviously), "Parker & Clind - Generator", and "Marino Stephano - Free Time". Before the set I've had a nice conversation with Thomas via facebook messenger and made a little request which he actually played for me - "Free Time".

After the set he told me it wasn't easy to mix that track and he said "It's totally not the track for the dancefloors but I've played it just for you" 😅

Marino Stephano - Free Time

Anyways, that set was unforgettable - I've been at the front middle during the whole time, there wasn't much crowd (as it was the first performance of the day and there were few other stages with much more famous names) and I've discovered a lot of gems though that set.

Also I realized how much that guy loves Marino's music - during his set he showed me the "Marino Stephano" tattoo on his shoulder 💪

So yeah, then after Lumi I've started to like these Marino-sounding tracks more & more, posted some choons from that era on trancefix as well - like Tannino & Di Carlo ‎- Nice Trip, Central Love II - Traum or Little Jam - Flaming Star (a track with a sad story) etc.

Here are some of his productions which deserve more attention:

Discodroids - Interspace (C.M. Remix)

C.M. - Lovetoy

And probably one of my top 3 tunes from him:

Hand's Burn - Vision Of Life

Such a cool story, thanks for sharing. I like how you picked a set from a little known DJ who was playing stuff from an artist you knew little about, and you ended up discovering loads of gems from it. I will check out that set. Nice picture as well to round off the story 👍
