Say hi to an exciting new name in the Trance scene!
Mark South is one of those people, who are giving you hope for the future of Trance.

'Delicious' is a 12:25 mins long, Epic, Uplifting, Euphoric and Cinematic, absolute monster of a track!

Since I've heard the full track, I could hardly hold back to tell everyone about it.
Actually, it's almost silly to see a new artist, going for a sound which is that massive.
Something you'd expect from a big name.

The melody reminds me a bit of old Vincent De Moor vibes. Track length and journey, of The Digital Blonde.
The huge, cinematic intro and breakdown, remind me of prime time Tiesto productions.

'Delicious' will be released on 16th December on Rated Records. Here's a teaser/preview of what's to come.

Musical content is good but the mastering/sound-design is way off imo. Sounds so thin, harsh synths, no balance, no lows. Not up to release standard. Vincent De Moor vibes for sure on the synth.

Gonna give this a spin now. See what you raving about !

Intro is captivating and well made, draws you in with the bass drones, small touches of fx and with darker subtle strings. The build might be a bit too long for its own good, but I do like the rhythms of the build synth melody and how its still feels quite captivating. Not sure on that sort of tricked you reveresed slow downed halting rhythm before the kick/bass kicks in, its a little cliched to me, taking itself too seriously. the break is nice I guess, not sure how I feel about orchestral breaks in my trance nowadays. The main hook melody is very strong I would say. Its simple but very effective melody. First i was like eeeeehh, that buzzing noisy synth is kinda a watered down attempt at millenium trance (heard it throughout the mid 2010s maaaany times), but when it really kicks in at 7.32 i couldnt help but to put pn the serious head-nodding face. Then we have a second orchestral string break, and one gotta say ,putting my personal preferences aside- its well made ! Melody kicks in again and its nice.

Yeah! Worth hearing, worth posting, worth listening to. Hensmon has a point but let me eloborate. I dont mind the approach of having a more raw recording/mastering whatever and I do prefer this to the digital in-your-face all the time presence of modern steroid trance, but the problem is really why is it sooooooo low audio quality to the sounds? It sounds worse than actual late/early 2000s trance. Is this a deliberate choice or what? I mean sure you get used and your ears adapt after hearing this a couple of times but still, it sounds too hollow like he put a "low hq filter" on it. Like a bad 1997 rip. Like its a recorded in a warehouse with weird acoustics for it to be a studio recording. I dont agree theres no lows etc, its simply not true. Then your ears has problems caused by overly clear/perfect/loud recording of modern electronic music. Its just a problem of audio quality/mastering. The strings sounds best in this track tbh. The bass/synths sounds hollow/muddy/low quality/too cold. Especially that synth that plays in the build/mid section/outro is terrible. Too loud yeah. Def lack of balance in the recording.

I have heard this track before it was mastered and it sounded lovely, with a lot of dynamics and deep low end, no harshness at all.
So I think whoever did the mastering on it, unfortunately have missed on the opportunity to bring the best out of it.

I suggested to them it would be really nice to give this a Vinyl release.
With a proper, dynamic, warm mastering, which would allow this track to express its full potential.

Mark answered me, if people are interested and the funds are there, they'd love to arrange a Vinyl release!

Listening to this again.

I kinda like the lofi sound of it now haha, but its maybe a bit too extremely lofi. still though, better than 95% of trance these day.
Having heard the unmastered original... This track could be up to 40% better with the right mastering...
I'm still pissed about that, haha

Seriously it is a big difference.

They squashed the dynamics, which has cut a lot of the depth on the low end and decreased the overall quality of the sounds.
Done right, this would be on par with the Vinyl release from Enigma State.

I will speak to the label owners this needs to get a new master!

You didnt say anything in the original post? You didnt realise this then? Or are you talking about an even worse quality-sounding original track you didnt post here?

How in the world does the people on this label think this sounds fine to release? Big mystery to me. It def deserves a better mastering. Even if I dont like every single part of this production/tune.

Hi there, Mark here.
First and foremost I’d like to apologize for the lack of the Master in terms of quality and standard it needs to be at.
I do want to point out The label is in no way responsible for this loss of quality.

I will mix and re-master the whole track to the best I can do, and will re-send this to the label.
This will take some time as this is (sadly) not my daytime job, so please be patient.

At last I want to thank everyone here for their honesty!
I will post an update when the mix/master is done. Hopefully much more enjoyable and up to today’s standard, while keeping the more edgy ,rough sound I so desire, and so I hope you too.

musical greetings to all,

Mark South

I did realise, but still it's a serious tune even with the master being suboptimal.

No, I meant the unmastered mix of this track.
The version before he sent it to the engineer.

If the mastering would've emphasized the dynamics of it, then it would have sounded huge.
It would have made all the difference, sound would not be squashed..

Mark is a guy who takes the responsibility on himself, as you can see in his above comment,
but I felt it's important to explain this a bit.

He would never say it was the engineer, but I can say this haha

Industry standards these days..
It can hard to find the right people, who understand what you're going for.
