I would say Petrushka (2020), Astatine (2022) and his A&B collab Always Do (2022 too) are all great, this new one surely falls flat though

Disegree on this one, last year he released ZOCASE EP which was at least for me one of the best releases from him ever! Bluish Yellow is huge!

it sure has some Rebound/Mozart similarities and that beat is very much early days deadmau5 styled

it would be funny to see the trance 2.0 making a full return already, I though it will last a few years longer with the 90s nostalgia, but apparently the 2010 nostalgia kicks in already lol

Deadmau5 was already one of the killers of big room trance back in 2006/2007. He and a few others are responsible for establishing that awful subgenre which is called 'Trouse' since then. So is Mat Zo. One of 5777435 Trouse producers, even since 15 years. So go figure.

I last added Mat Zo in 2022, with Astatine. Amazing vibe, reminds me of James Holden’s Balance 005, my all-time favorite comp. Same year, Above & Beyond & Mat Zo - Always Do (Club Mix) came out in a similar style, so I put that in my top 10 of ’22 too. There was also “Colours” from Forza Horizon 5, but that’s more pop. “Wounded” might be good for a Forza Horizon 6 soundtrack, but it doesn’t really grab me for listening on its own

I really enjoy how Mat Zo breaks boundaries, I love his Astatine, Les Mishegas and the entire Zocase EP, but not for this one.
There isn't any rhythm in it, just the simple beats and claps and nothing else.

I agree that dm5 is never a "real" prog house artist. He has made trance tracks back then, but whether the other tracks are related to trance or not, I personally think that the relation is not strong.
