My mental health has not improved that much. It scares me that I have seen the same over and over again , fearing that I might hit a car and the psychologist I have seen are dumbfounded by it as well and seeing the same number which is 41 everyday and it's annoying me.

This is what the work environment has done to me where I was fed a fantasy and then shown what real life is which is so brutal and awful.

so it has improved somewhat, but not all that much, correct?

how precisely do you see the number?

do you envision it? do you dream it? or just come across it IRL in daily life?

Not at all man. I have calm down but I do get the odd psychotic outburst.

Just on my car watch or my computer and no I do not envision it just comes to randomly without thinking about it. Some days I feel when I think about it tI am able to see it repeatdily throughout the day and seeing the same car as a ford mustang its so odd. I saw 8:41 here its so annoying. Some days i just have a thought about it and then the number comes and the car appears too whilst driving some moments later.

I am forgetful and I struggle with self care too.

well, thats an improvement over having not calmed down and getting pychotic outburst constantly ;)
can relate though.. I still suffer from panic attacks periodically, they're no picnic.

so you're seeing that number constantly at random intervals when going through your day. correct?

Yup both constant and at different intervals

Note: i'm no Shrink so take my take on this with a pinch of salt. But here's my take on this.

If thats the case I wouldn't be too concerned about it if I where you.

You're a pattern seeking ape by nature, like the rest of us, who underwent a great deal of stress and potentially trauma. And you might just be in an environment that just "naturally" happens to have the number 41 in it a lot. Hence you come across it often, hence you recognize that as a pattern, and hence your (un)concious mind going like 'hm' thats odd, might have to tagg this particular phenomenon, might be a threat" whilst its actually not all that odd of a phenomenon and not threatning

An example. Every time measuring tool in your direct surroundings will display the number "41" 24 times a day. 7 days a week, given any of them doesn't malfunction So thats every clock, watch, PC, phone etc.
combine that with a very high probability of the numbers "4" and "1" being displayed on large set of car plates,
combine that with a very high probability of the numbers "4" and "1" being displayed on the price of every menu or sign @ every bar or restaurant. etc. etc.

and voila, its all in all not all that odd that you come across the number 41 a lot daily if you think about it.

I used to have the same with the number 62 actually. and it had in part to do with the fact that the local busroute i was visiting often was comprised of, among which, busroute 62 and 162. I ended up adopting it as a lucky number and part of my monikers (avalon 62)

Now granted, once you see it you can't unsee it (try not thinking about a pink elephant after i mention trying not to think about a pink elephant and you'll think of a pink elelphant) and it can be annoying. But if you have no choice but seeing anyways my suggestion would be using it. or turning it into something positive for you. (like turning it into a or your lucky number)

you mentioned starting your own radio or dj mix show a while back... maybe set 41 min as the lenght of your mixes. or go with 41 tracks everytime...

now maybe you think thats an incredibly lame artistic suggestion and fair enough 😅 but however you shape it...the idea is basically make it into something a part of you or working for you if that makes sense :)

hope this helps a bit (y)

2 best video that explain depresion perfectly
What i learn is that it is all about you, either you become strong enough and overcome it or you start taking medicaments (and you do not know what and how many side effect it wil have on you) so if you do not want side effect of medication, you need to be stronger, even if it means you will live with clinical depression your rest of life.
What help me is consciousness that most people on planet earth live in poor conditions (either physical or mental even worse than here in EU or U.S) and they live with that, what am i to complain?

Depression is so hard to self-diagnose. I mean, I watched two of those videos and I can't seem to figure out if I had that or not. You don't know when it starts, you don't know when it ends. I'm not talking about clinical depression and those tougher forms of it. Always had slow and silent bouts, only had one (what I think was an) episode when I recognized what it was.

In truth, I don't think those two videos explain depression perfectly - maybe some forms of it, for sure, but the first one seems just like it was pulled straight out of a Mayo Clinic article.

I don't think the 'be strong(er)' statement really helps - depression weakens you severely. Being strong doesn't mean stubbornly refusing help if you need it - and getting help doesn't make you any weaker. Some forms of depression really require meds, and just by knowing there is greater suffering elsewhere doesn't make yours lesser. Just ask @jetflag - his experience was incredibly difficult to even imagine as a neutral, let alone live through it. I can imagine wanting to get better on your own (I do that too), but that only applies to the less intense and more manageable forms of depression.

i've started walking with a guy who works in the mental illness field (i actually went to school with him from 1st to 10th grade way back) and it helps a lot. i would recommend just 30-60 min of walking, in the forest or anywhere really if you are struggling with depression or anxiety or just for the trip alone if you are mentally healthy of course.

He is on vacation next month so our next meeting will be in September... and I have so many questions. Doing lots of reading and research lately on ADD and looks like a bitch to deal with. As I said earlier this sentence is not surprising for me at all... So many wasted years...
For now he recommended me to do volunteering as a starting point to give me some schedule and structure. But my motivation is all time low...
Anybody with ADD/ADHD here?

You'll do fine i know (y)😊 Non ADD/ADHD here, atleast i think, but i DO certain strange things with my hands and feet all the time. Like i'm nervous, like moving my fingers, toes and feet all the time. It is most likely because of my anxiety. There is loads more i do, but that would take ages to write 😝 Anyway, mental health issues is terrible but remember that you are not alone. Many, and i mean, many people suffer from it around the world. You are not different, you are you. Just as normal as everyone else. Know that me and the rest on this thread feel for you and that we will have your back if you feel down. Again, you are you, a normal person who might be suffering from something that, actually, is more common than you think and we will help you. My life has gotten a lot better when i first told my doctor about my problem (Anxiety etc.) He gave me a prescription of anti depressants/anxiety which has helped a lot but i needed to go out of the house more instead of just sitting inside alone. It is very important to go outside and see people, socialize with them, or just say hello. Nothing more than that. Just be around other people will help a lot. Yes it might be hard but it does work in the long run. I hope you get better soon my friend, and stay healthy in these dark (Covid) times 😇

@jetflag @dmgtz96 I am currently reading these two books on breathing exercises and how breathing helps with mental health
Breath The New Science of a Lost Art.

The link can be found below if anyone is interested. I am also giving Aromatherapy a try as well.

> In chapter one, Restless breathing, you will be able to recognize the effects of unconscious and uneasy breathing in everyday life. This chapter focuses on ways in which calm and conscious breathing can prevent and control stress, and how weight can be managed through breathing. In addition, the influence of mind power and your diet on your physical and mental well-being will be examined. >

Chapter two, Normal breathing, describes how breathing works, and how it affects your body. When you more fully understand how your body and your nervous system are organized, you can more easily change any potential bad habits. In this chapter, you will learn how your breathing is regulated, and how you, by way of being conscious about your breath, can activate the soothing part of your nervous system and increase your daily well-being and health. >

Chapter three, Trained breathing, provides an introduction to yoga, giving not only the historical and philosophical background on a holistic basis, but also valuable exercises that you can use to attain a more serene body and mind. Understanding how breathing bridges the gap between your physical and mental self, you can learn to understand the finer nuances of breathing – one of the central elements of yoga. >

In chapter four, Sustained breathing, the many advantages of breath holding will become clear. Even though you may not think about it in your daily life, pauses in your breathing are quite natural and often spontaneous. In pranayama (controlled breathing) breath holding is particularly important. When you realize how the body and mind both change and become stronger, you will also understand how conscious breathing techniques can be applied in self-development and in your daily life. >

Chapter five, Powerful breathing, describes the many advantages that breath holding as well as breathing techniques, can add to sports – both for everyday exercise and elite athletes. Many of these stem from the freediving universe, however, they are excellent for everyday use. In addition, I describe experiments with the heart, brain and lungs, which provide scientific examples for why a greater awareness of breathing is so important. This chapter provides techniques to improve your performance and results in your fitness routine. PREFACE 17 >

Chapter six, Therapeutic breathing, pinpoints how you can boost your health through conscious and efficient breathing. Should you be ill, this chapter offers valuable advice as to how you can work towards recovery and minimize your disease. Furthermore, efficient breathing is also a potent aid for preventing illnesses. >

Chapter seven, Soothing breathing, describes how you can relieve pain by strengthening the connection between body and mind both through calm and attentive breathing as well as through positive thinking, imagery and meditation. By shifting your focus to your breath, the pain will seem less intense and a more regular heartbeat will soothe and nourish the body.

Try these they really helped me

I saw someone shared a link with Chester. I always felt close to him nad what he was going through. I actually spend an entire year in isolation just going out of home early morning to bike about 7/8 years ago. I think I am in a better place now. Chester's death hit me pretty hard because he was my shining example for overcoming depression and addictions and shitty childhood. I am a lot calmer now, 5 years ago I was ready to kill a person for looking at me. I still get anxiety in public places and as I work in retail I have to fight very hard my urges to scream at stupid entitled idiots.

It's the system, that's why you felt that way. The reptilian brain kicks in with that anger bottling up inside of you and you want to release in a rage. It happened to me too where people were deliberately shown the mirror of their evil selves whether it be people lashing out each other verbally, psychologically mentally (scaring contest or a dick measuring size competition and people trying to be different ,people trying physically, emotionally, and the Department I worked for people in that Department had various amounts of Depression and people will steal it and they will come after you to keep you accountable and make you feel guilty my confidence was being leeched out until there was nothing left , ashamed, people who compete and push themselves end up in an aged care home they bring other people down around them including their loved ones and their co-workers. Competition is good but when it becomes toxic then you have to question, to what end? I can see why there are so many rates of suicide and depression, people wanting to kill themselves for creating it in the first place and destroying for what it turned them into. It happened to me.
