I just found out that Michael died on 19 July 2022.

Maybe he was not well known outside of the German speaking countries, but his 'Beam & Yanou' collaboration was successful in the times when the major labels changed their interests from 'Euro Dance' to 'Commercial Trance (?)' (Sash!, ATB, Future Breeze etc.), later around the millenium again german-styled 'Hard Trance' (Dumonde, Scot Project, Cosmic Gate) started to be big and he found his place in the scene with the 'Beam vs Cyrus' project. After that he had a small uplifting period with 'Sean Tyas', but Trance was already dead in Germany in those times.

He also founded the Dance department at 'EMI Electrola' (1997-2004), he signed there all popular 'Cosmic Gate' tunes from 'Exploration of Space' to 'Mental Atmosphere' and also some 'Lasgo' and 'Milk Inc' tunes.

He made remixes for tunes like 'Watergate – Heart Of Asia', 'Airscape – L'Esperanza','Cosmic Gate – Mental Atmosphere'.

Beam - Amun

Beam vs Cyrus & The Joker - Launch In Progress

20 years ago I have send him a mail, I wanted to known the name of the girl in the video, but he never reply.)

He started with with 'euro/dance', so the cheesiness was always a big part of his music. From the commercial stuff I really liked this tune when I was kid:

Beam & Yanou - Paraiso (Extended Mix)

He was a name that every dancefloor addict knew in the late 90s early 2000s trance scene . his style was instantly recognizable with his flamboyant strings from Sound of Love, Thunder in paradise to Lifestyle and in his wake spawns memorable remixes by the likes of Dumonde, DJ Scot Project and Airscape

R.I.P. DJ Beam!
