The third album of Mikkel in ASIP is coming. Now I think I like The Art Of Levitation more than Journey Beyond, looking forward to this one.
Mikkel Rev returns to A Strangely Isolated Place with Evocation, his third album for the label. Written in the forests of Norway, it builds on the expansive sound of The Art of Levitation and Journey Beyond, moving between gentle momentum and reflective stillness. Long-form pieces such as 'Step Inside' and 'MRI' unfold patiently, while 'Dream Sand' introduces shimmering rhythms and 'The Infinite' centres on expressive piano melodies. Closing track 'Sanitorium' brings the album to a restrained, moving finish, inspired by the natural surroundings and communal atmosphere of Nordic forest gatherings.

Two tracks are on Bandcamp, and some 1-minute previews can be listened on Jono Records.

Released on Bandcamp!

The Infinite is my favourite.

MRI (Entering The Magnetic Heliosphere) is also good, sounds like an UTE release with ambient background sound.

top high quality album, like wrote in my previous post, his work gets better with each album

'Evocation' touched me the most from the Ambient tracks, and 'The Infinite' shows how beautiful Trance music can get in 2026.. i'm really impressed

but if I should choose an ultimative pick than it would be 'Dream Sand', what lovely atmosphere and the rhytmical part reminds me of some old offbeat Techno tracks that used to dance to 25 years ago, great.)

After giving it a full listen, I'm here to give a simple review:

Step Inside: 6.5/10 (Strong intro, he makes the sound twisted, with IDM-like rhythm)

Evocation: 7.5/10 (Loops evoke and vanish, sophisticated atmosphere)

Lauryl: 7.0/10 (Touching natural ambient, reminds me of Max Cooper's "Ascent")

Astral: 7.0/10 (Looking up at the starry sky from a very isolated place, as if yearning for something across the bounds of time and space)

MRI: 7.5/10 (Free Impressionism collage, like an Artcore Jungle track, the unfolding of the cosmic scene)

Dream Sand: 7.5/10 (Dreamy techno groove, like sand floating in an alien planet)

The Infinite: 8.0/10 (If Cosmic Baby lives in Northern Europe)

Sanatorium: 6.5/10 (Decent Pure Ambient, the micro oscillation and percs open the sound field, reminds me of 36/Zakè - Stasis Sounds for Long-Distance Space Travel)

Overall: 7.2/10 (Much deeper and less interesting than his previous albums, so it's harder to listen. But I have to admit he had made a little progress)
My No.2 Traditional Trance Album this year, temporarily. (No.1 is John 00 Fleming's "The Lost Tribe", 7.3/10.)

Edit: After giving "Journey Beyond" another listen, I think I overrated this album. So I decide to change the rating to 7.0/10.

What a coincidence that this album is released the same day as the new Cosmic Baby track. I listened to them together and feel that they have the similar 'space electronic' vibe. Some of the tracks in this album have the feelings of the first two Cosmic Baby albums.

The Infinite is awesome! And yes, organic 92s Harald Blüchel style <3
