Ok, regarding this list:
It's not that this list is necessarily a bad list. To be honest, most of the tracks are actually really good and a considerable amount of them I would say they are or have become classics on their own merits, but I have to admit that there is a specific problem with this list which is a certain amount of recency bias.
I mean, let's face it, neither "Only Road" nor "Higher Love" are that great to be considered part of the Top 25 Greatest Anjunabeats tracks of all-time. I mean, for once, neither of those two tracks are even ten years old, and even if they were already, they're just simply not that great to be considered among the Top 25 Greatest Anjunabeats tracks of all-time. It just doesn't make any sense to. And the same goes to "Diamonds" which is pretty good but not that great to be Top 25 of all-time.
As for other tracks, "Gratitude" is definitely a great track and it's one of the tracks I put the most on my Instagram stories when I want to thank people for something, but to be one of the Top 25 Anjunabeats tracks of all-time it's kind of too much I think. Being from 2022 the track will next year start its process of becoming a classic since its turning three years old which is in my opinion the time when the track stops being recent and enters the process of becoming a classic which only becomes complete when the track reaches its twelfth anniversary, so, I think it's kind of too much to see this track on this list no matter how great it is. But I think the most glaring example of this is "Quicksand (Don't Go)". I mean, it's definitely one of the greatest tracks of the year, but it was just recently released, it's not even one year old, it's months old therefore it makes absolutely no sense to be on this list.
The Ben Böhmer track once again is by no means a bad one, but seriously? Does it realistically make any sense for it to be above tracks like "Sun In Your Eyes", "Sky Falls Down" and "Good For Me"? I mean, let's face it, as good as it might be, and I myself enjoy the track, does it realistically make any sense for it to be above tracks that actually are already established classics? I mean, I don't even know if people will remember this track in a few years from now. I mean, it's nice, I don't dislike it at all, but it in no way has timeless classic potential, it's good for its time, but in a few years from now I highly doubt it will stand out as a proper actual classic.
Regarding "Deep In My Soul", I love that track. I used to listen to it a lot back in 2014 and I still listen to it nowadays from time to time. It's definitely one of the most memorable releases of Anjunadeep, especially during that era, but number 4 of all-time? Really? I mean, it's pretty good and it's ageing really well, but I wouldn't consider it a timeless classic, at least not in the same vein as other more well-established proper classics, I mean, all tracks that were between numbers 14 and 5 are far more memorable and way more established classic material than "Deep In My Soul" which is pretty good and next year it will most likely earn the title of "classic" as it will turn twelve, but number 4 of all-time is way too much, in my very honest opinion.
As for "Come Together", I honestly didn't know about this one until I heard it yesterday, and while it is pretty good from what I heard, I mean, let's face it, it's not top 3 of all-time material, it's not even that old! It will turn six next year, it's barely something. It's not an established classic, and as good as it might be I wouldn't say number 3 of all-time makes much sense.
As for the huge number of Above & Beyond tracks on the list:
To be absolutely honest, that does not surprise me, and it doesn't bother me that much because even I voted on 16 tracks which had their name in some form there, so I can't really say I don't understand why the overwhelming majority of the tracks are by them, after all, they are the biggest name on the label and they were the ones who created it in the first place, so, it makes sense that people would vote en masse on many of their tracks, especially because most of them have actually aged really well and have become timeless classics on their own merits, so that really doesn't bother me much although I would never vote neither for "Gratitude" and even less for "Quicksand (Don't Go)" because not only those tracks barely have a history as they're incredibly recent, especially the second one, but also because they're not even among the greatest of the greatest Above & Beyond tracks, at least not in my very honest opinion.
As for Sun & Moon being voted the greatest Anjunabeats track of all-time:
I understand the controversy, after all, it is a pretty poppy tune, but you'll have to admit, the track has aged really well, I mean, the track was released almost 15 years ago and it still sounds as fresh as it did back then, it has barely aged, in my very honest opinion. And even if it is a bit too poppy, at least it's a well-executed pop(py) track, the production is pretty good, the way it develops is well-done, Richard Bedford does a phenomenal job on vocals, and pretty much everything in it works. It might not be the tranciest track there is, but you cannot deny that it is an extremely well-produced track, so I kind of understand why it won, even I voted for it!
So, yeah, with all this said and done, I would say that this is in no way a bad list but it does suffer from some problems, in particular the recency bias which made some still not quite classics and even some just downright recent tracks enter the list in lieu of some other proper classics that would make much more sense to be on the list.
