Hey guys, want to share my new project that i've been working on for the last year, Raters Gonna Rate.

This is a ratings and review platform for creative content e.g movies, games, shows, manga etc. I've always loved reviewing/rating creative content, so last year decided I would formalize it into a blog like site. But actually I wanted to go further than just a typical blog. The review landscape today is just awful, with so many paid puff pieces, clickbait and over-hyping of content. The user experience is also atrocious, with tons of suffocating adverts and generic articles. Creative review spaces should be design forward imo, and also have integrity with the content, so that's what I set out to build. Thanks to advances in design software, I could build this entire thing by hand with no code knowledge.

Here is the site. I have long form feature reviews, but also an 'All rates' section where I document all ratings in a table like form - www.ratersgonnarate.com

I'm sharing it here because I know some will enjoy, but mostly I'm gonna use this thread as a dev log, because I have so much more I am adding to the site, including a music section (which will have top 100s and the likes) and I want to tack it and get eyes on it. Feedback at any time is appreciated. My ultimate goal is to build a platform that allows any user to create their own rating/reviews for public sharing. Like a massive rating/review ecosystem.

p.s there is likely many bugs/spelling mistakes, so if you catch em, let me know ;)

Nice one, man. Sometimes I pick movies based on its mood, so the mood section was a great addition. Also, loving the site name.

My 2c:
- In All Rates, what does Exp mean?
- Inconsistencies in Games Exp: "hr" vs "h" and the spacings between numbers and metric units.
- If the goal of All Rates reviews was to give a quick glance about the movies/games/stuffs, maybe add the title or short description from its full review to give more context and interest to keep reading? Because I find the verdict has long paragraphs (maybe because English isn't my main language?).
- Since All Rates reviews only contains the verdict & scoring, maybe add a button or text link that leads to their full reviews?

Yep all me @Jetflag.

Thanks for feedback @erickUO. You are right that I need to add links to the full reviews from the quick rate version where that exists.

Some of the All rate Verdict reviews are getting quite long indeed. Originally I was just writing small paragraphs, and I'd say 70% of entries are small, but recently they've been getting bigger, especially if I watch something I really like or have strong opinions on. Writing full length reviews is actually quite hard, as I not the strongest writer (7.2/10), so the longer 'quick' reviews sometimes happen, as I just free flow those in the moment.

Were you looking on desktop or mobile?

This is a really cool idea!

I've considered doing something similar myself but never found motivation tbh. I have a huge gaming and film backlog and rating everything with a small write-up appeals to me.

The "All Rates" table is a clever way to provide quick value alongside your long-form features. Since you are planning to scale this into a massive ecosystem where users can share their own reviews, focusing on the user experience and mental clarity of your contributors will be key.

Dunno about hens but for me it was figuring out what your favorite trance track or artist is 😏
