I buy tons of stuff off Beatport... Never done streaming and never would. Can't imagine not owning your own music and having to rely on a continuous subscription for access. As for vinyl, it just pure sucks as a medium. It's so technologically limited that I'd never buy it again... Unless it was something that's super rare I really wanted.

As for this track, I'm not too impressed so far though it's OK. Need a few more listens. I find the Cosmithex sound to be a bit robotic and soulless for my taste.

The hypocrisy is real in my case, I have to admit that. Glad you brought that up. No defense against that, but I also haven't had a track from the past 6 years that left a lasting impression. Plus I like to believe that once I get a stable income in a 2nd world country, I would invest in music.

And about owning tracks, yeah that hits close to home once they start pulling your favs from the stores because the rights expired or whatever.

stop using beatport and I would start to support. the established mainstream trance scene has beatport in their butt. Also honestly im not sure I wouldve bought the track because i would only buy tracks that are ATLEAST 8/10 on the ds scale. its also about convenience.. What players are people using these days for bought tracks haha? Spotify is just so damn good, especially their playlists and discovering feautures. I also wished the musicmakers got more roayalties/ paid for their music on there, but what to do. Its still better than pirating music right?

Spotty/bandcamp/vinyl is the future.

I would love people to use Spotify instead of Beatport to support Forescape, but it's usually around 300-400 streams per track (all-time stats). This particular release got 192 plays so far, which is ~0,8$, that's equivalent of 1 download on Beatport :)

Forescape is there since August 2020. Label's balance on Bandcamp is slightly positive (it costs $20 per month as you know).

If revenue was my first priority, I would have stopped the label after the first release. It's all about the artists that I care for, I can hardly pay them back for their enthusiasm. Frankly speaking, I always add money from my own wallet (usually around 50$) in order to help these Legends that still produce non-commercial, proper underground Trance music.

Well after all those comments I expected something more complex. the main riff is pretty straight forward in your face...which of course aint bad...the production is nice. Prefer the alternative mix slightly.

It's true I really should start paying for more music. I calculate I spend about 30 CAD a year, not including Spotify subscription. Bandcamp is good but i kinda miss the days when I had CD's and could just load into a pouch for my car and take the time to really hear them out.

Solid release here btw

Is the coffee or coke or whatever we spend 3 euros on per day an 8 out of 10 experience? How much money do we give to pointless consumables or material goods, yet spending 1 euro on a track seems unthinkable and they last forever. Don't you also find that by purchasing music you ask yourself to give it a chance and let it grow. I would never buy CDs back in the day and find myself labelling tracks 8/10 on first listen, it took time for the album to becomes all time great (some were instant likes of course, but many weren't).

And one last point... why not settle for a 7/10 and know you are also contributing to the lifespan of the scene and showing artists appreciation for such a small amount. We wont ever get a scene filled with quality again if we don't invest in it. We'll be waiting another 15 years if we only choose to spend money when the masterpieces come along.

@Daysleeper I quoted you but my point is more general one, including even myself in the finger pointing. But you did say below 8/10 would be a no purchase...

I dont want to talk into your label 'job', but (yeah there is always a but), I have checked this 'Endgame' release on youtube... there you have only 100 views on both tracks, maaan, you need to have around 10 000 views and only then release the thing, (and 135 plays on soundcloud?).. If people don't buy the releases, its never because the music is average, its always just about popularity... you have 100% fully in your hands how much are your releases popular. I just dont understand why many people put music on the market a they don't let others know, its not a shame. Its not about releasing stuff, its about promoting the music, the best u can, its good for you and even better for the artist... Even at this moment there are unreleased high quality underground deep house tunes on youtube with more than 15 000 views, one week uploaded.

Sorry for this, i just dont understand..

Good point! I've invested around $500 in promotion of 4 releases of Forescape this summer (Instagram and Facebook ads). I used really good targeting settings which were approved by my colleagues in the business. If I threw that money in the window instead, it would have been better.

It's easy to give advice from the sofa. It's a bit harder to go on socials and support your favorite artists by letting them know how much you enjoy their music. We've lost Cosmithex, Timewave, Deep Soul Duo, Jeremy Rowlett, Subtara and myself as producers this year, do we need more?

C'mon is this for real?? We are not talking about a cheesecake bar. People on fb and insta are not there for music and new releases, the music freaks don't look for music on those sites! Never. And if, its this the only thing that you can do for the promotion? There are more than million ways! Its not just about investing money.

All the releases could have much more potential with a sincere promotion.

But still if some guys want to make a release on your label...

I had a vinyl only label,)

So and you think that its good to have around 100 plays/views on track thats already released? And why do have others 5000 views on upcoming releases? Yeah, these are my last questions. Thx

I think as a label or producer you can sell more then just music, for example presets, samples, project files from the tracks released on the label. I think all of these producers would earn more doing this
