This thread is a different variation of the tracks-ripping-off-other-tracks thread. It's for old tracks that have been officially reworked or remixed by the same or different producers and given an official release. Post your original and reworked tracks and opinions on whether it's an improvement or not.

First off, Der Dritte Raum - Hale Bopp, reworked by Dr Kucho and then Orkidea & JS16. Prefer Dr Kucho's effort over Orkidea's as it stays truer to the original and Orkidea turns it into somewhat of a bog standard trancer. I don't think either is an improvement on the original though.

It's also interesting from a copyright point of view that it seems that anyone can take anyone else's work, make their own version and release it under their own name without getting a permission from the original label. However it also seems that any revenue generated from the new version still goes back to the original artist, which is only right.
This is what Dr Kucho wrote on his YT vid for Hale Bopp:

Dr. Kucho! “Hale Bopp” is a version; no one asked me to do it and no one gave me the original recordings. In the credits, you will see the phrase “composed by Andreas Kruger and published by Manuskript;” therefore, both Mr. Kruger and Manuskript receive their dues in the form of authors’ rights. As it is a version, it does not need permission from the original label (Virgin), and I did not use the pseudonym Der Dritte Raum because, as it is the property of another person, that would be illegal and could get me in a fine mess. That is why the correct name for my version is Dr. Kucho! “Hale Bopp,” and not Der Dritte Raum “Hale Bopp (Dr. Kucho! remix).” More details here:

My pick would be Transa - Supernova and Adam Sheridan - Lektrik.

The Original is just perfect.

This was the first version I heard. I liked it immediately. After a few years someone said 'Ripoff' and referred to Transa. That was when I discovered the Original mix. Till this day I can not really pick a favorite.

I meant rather examples of tracks where the original artist is credited and it is made clear that the track is a remake/update of the original. Another example is Peter Steele's very poor remake of the classic Gull by Jon Vesta.

Marco V - Simulated [2001] has a 2010 remix from Marco V himself. I would say the rework loses much of the charm that made the original a classic.

Armin - Blue Fear [1997] has a 2003 rework, and I would say both are very good tracks.

Does an update of a remix counts?
I prefer the old version. The update feels like it was made just to fit into modern sets.

This one is from Paul Oakenfold's Trance Mission album which all about his rework of trance classics. Also feels like it was made just to fit into modern sets.
He took the main melody from Ferry's remix, but the info on discogs only credited Simon Berry 🤔
