that's actually very true, it also explains why a lot of stuff sounds the same - to get to these extreme loudness marks around - 4LuFS while still sounding somewhat listenable (to an extent), the mixdown should be meeting some strict criterias that eventually limit the producer quite hard at what sounds could be used, what processing should be applied etc. if you pick a good proper trancer, no matter modern or old school and push the loudness to these levels they won't sound good. apparently we should take drugs to be able to enjoy this slop as some morons here suggest. Imagine making music while the loudness of your kick drum dictates you what you can do and what notBecause when the loudness wars started happening in 2010 they all jumped head first into it and have now dug themselves into hole they can't get out of, because if producer dares turn things back down to appropriate levels it separates itself too much from what has become a scene that sits in isolation not just from all dance music, but Trance in general. All these producers in this scene are now stuck because of it, destined to decades making a sound that grew tiresome already by 2012.
