Thanks, ill be releasing the download shortly for free :)
Any updates on the Giveaway please? (No rush if the mastering isn't 100% ready yet)

Btw I sort of knew that Lately wasn't mastered by you cos I was complaining about colder dynamics on Seans recent solo stuff and your stuff usually sounds more warmer, I think I was oddly trying to compliment your new approach to mastering techniques but at same time trying to confirm that by directly asking you about solo / collab master in this particular example since i had originally assumed that Lately was mastered by Sean 🤪

S-bahn type of mastering is kinda perfect (best of both worlds) and perfectly fits in with the house sound of Borderline reboot and for this one I had assumed it was mastered by Activa..

All my tracks are mastered by myself. I've gone down the road of people mastering my tracks for labels before and they just don't get it. They're so focussed on modern production and mastering that they take away from the tracks so all my masters are done by me.
I wish people would teach me how to make/master tracks like they did in the 90's and early 2000's.

Im not sure it's a thing you can teach, it's down to sound selection mainly. I do make use of modern tools, plugins, synths in my productions but one thing I do is route my tracks out from my DAW into the Analog mixing desk. I have a great flexibility on my inputs and outputs, but even if I've produced a track in the box and not used the hardware synths and drum machines, I'll still group all my channels and send the audio out to my mixing desk and record the track back in. This takes advantage of the Analog circuit on the mixer and the onboard EQ and it does add a level of 'warmth' - though there is plugins that can do this too.

This is a good remix of a classic, but secretly when I see remixes of classics appear I hope that the producer really tries to reinvent and bring a new interesting interpretation to the original, rather than a reskinning. You are one of the few producers in the scene that could do it.

Usually if I do a remix I try to take the track in a new direction, a bit like how I done the remix of The Conductor & Cowboy - Feeling This Way.

On this, it was more of a track I done to kinda just give a fresh feel to it without changing too much. Ultimately it was always going to be a freebie track so didn't want to put all my efforts to reinvent the track with ideas that could be used on originals 🙂

I'm one of the biggest PVD fans and I'm very picky in terms of who I approve of doing remixes of his tracks. Especially among modern producers, Lostly is clearly the one that appreciates and respects his sound the most, but this remix is class. It's difficult to take a near perfect track and give it a different personality. I like that you kept the breakbeat and double/triple kicks (albeit with a different patterns and sounds) - PVD always aced his base-work between 97-2003. I understand why you had to change the tone on the lead, but after listening to probably a 1000 times to the original, I just have that piano tone stuck in my head haha.

Activa too, his Remix of Throne by Trance Wax in 2021 is more PVD than PVD I think.
Activa is a PVD clone no doubt, in a good way! What I meant with Lostly is that when he touches PVD tracks, he respects the source material :)

Thanks for sharing and hope you enjoy the rework.
For a bit of info, PVD was a massive user of the synthesizer the Novation Supernova back when the original was produced.
Most of the synth sounds and bass on this track was done using the exact same synth sound which is why it has a bit of a close resemblance in terms of feel to the original, just with my own Enigma State spin.

Enjoy! :)
