I've been defending MIKE a lot in recent years, cause I thought (still do) that several of his tracks were decent even though the general opinion here was more negative.

However, this album sounds really poor. A couple of tracks OK-ish at best, but there is not a single one from the previews that I would keep in my playlist and keep listening to.

To be fair I don't really like the modern production around Trance-Fixation. And the hard EDM snare sucks. And the synth is kinda plasticy.

Sounded cool on my phone. But you can't really judge on that can you :)

He was capable of making great modern tracks...Circa comes to mind, but that was a while ago.

But yeah, his recent stuff sounds poor...but which producers have ever reached their 'heights' of say 20+ years ago?

I cant think of any...it seems like all the creativity and uniqueness comes in your younger years..and after that, its going through the motions to try and make a living.

There are exceptions, like Stoneface & Terminal for me...theyve kept the quality up in these modern times.

I'd say Ferry Corsten still occasionally drops some proper tunes now and then, not really in past 2-3 years tho.. Thrillseekers is another name that comes to mind

overall, if we take an average solid producer's lifespan - there's this sweet spot (more like a few years period) when they're still relatively new to the scene and their ideas are still fresh and less cliche/polluted by the environment, yet they already have gained enough skills and knowledge to make their tracks sound good, probably not super solid yet but already good enough to not spoil the greatness of the ideas with the execution. after that the quality of production might go higher but the ideas will get watered down

but when we're talking of ones like MIKE that's even more sad, he's already somewhere waaay past his sunset as a producer, in a complete dark and abandoned area where no good ideas or high quality can live, moving chaotic in the darkness

Push - Drive By - solid opener with melodic techno template - which is around for like 6 years now, the sounds are still the same, so this is nothing fresh or anything, but as an opener this is somewhat acceptable 6/10
Push - Back When We Believed - kinda like this, typical Push sound and almost that oldscool feeling, but I would make it more phat with that oldschool Push kick 7/10
Push - Echoform - rave-like track with nothing interesting, no real melody, no catchy riff, filler 4/10
Push - Breakpoint - breakdown is great and some parts enyjoybale, the lead melody is quite weak tho and the psy-kick just doesnt fit 6/10
Push - Trance-Fixation - maybe slightly cheesy track, but at the same time really catchy, this is rather lovely 7,5/10
Push - Tronesque - not bad, combination of synthwave elements, melodic techno and a bit of Push sound 6,5/10
Push - Future Fall - rave track, this time done quite nicely, it has energy and solid hook, good track 7/0
Push - Known Universe - decent trancer, enjoyable for sure, but as for a tiutle track, I would expext something even bigger 6,5/10
Push - Perceived - I remember this track from 2022 or maybe 2023, it was a bonus track called Surroundings and it is the only track on the album which sounds actually like the good old Push, slightly slower, but the bassline reminds me of Extreme Trax - Final Fantasy, the main lead is rather spacey and abstract, love this one 8/10
Push - Feel The Underground - breakdwon is good, but overally this sounds way too bigroom / edm, not a huge fan 4,5/10
Push - Activate Vortex - this one is okay, but not enough for a single, more of a filler 5,5/10
Push - Night Circuit - techy track with energy, but there are a few annoying sounds which also leads this to a more edm / bigroom territory, but its okay-ish 5,5/10

Overally its about the same as Scope, a few good tracks and one standout track - Percieved :) not a fan of those melodic techno template and EDM elements, BUT its not a bad album, just expected a lot more

6/10
