Then Solarstone would be the anti-thesis reflecting Tiesto‘s (d)evolution? He became successful as well or has kind of evolution beyond golden era but stayed true to the trance „rules“, yes or no?

I like the interview questions, she is respectful but still a bit critical. It‘s interesting Tiesto asked for talking with RA.. lol.

Dj Tiësto is like a soccer player going to play in the Saudi Pro League for "a sporting challenge". He has no love for trance music, I doubt he ever did. The man just wants to party, and that is fine. So is catering to your crowd. The crowd demands Trouse/Generic music, he delivers.

Problem with artist like him that often when they "experements" with sound they just goes mainstream, instead of creating something unique.

Solarstone is successful within his niche of modern melodic trance, but he’s not a household name.
In the US, pretty much everyone in their 30s who is into electronic music in general knows about Tiesto. He was trendy when all of us were in high school ~13-15 years ago

Its not about being unique. I personally want him to play stuff thats quality and that appeals to EVERYONE. Trance and house were already mainstream back in the 90s. I want to hear hits

If you think about it,compared to pop music - Trance is still such a niche style. I mean, how many normal people would recognise Armin on the high street? Tiesto is probably as close to a 'household name' as anyone from Trance ever got....and even then, hes nowhere near as famous as someone who came from the 'pop' world...lets pick a random name, someone like Ed Sheeran.

Agreed with @dmgtz96 , that is what tiesto is and has been doing, which is why his popularity increased.

I think what you mean to say deep down is:

I personally want him to play stuff thats quality and that appeals to ME.
...because trance is, despite its recent sort-of little comeback...very much a niche in overall EDM

Nah I don't agree with you guys @dmgtz96 deep down I want it to appeal to everyone like it did before.

Why would I lie? Why would I be here as well?

Tiesto’s music appeals to “everyone,” in the sense that it appeals to the maximum amount of people possible while still remaining within the pop-electronic music scene

it doesn’t matter if his music doesn’t appeal to *you*

I don't see it as being any different to "err nerr I liked taylor swift when she made country music but not anymore". because I guarantee that if she didn't change her style you'd have people complaining that she never does anything different. look, everyone has a right to an opinion but sometimes you gotta accept that your opinion ain't necessarily worth shit. artists have the right to do whatever they want. "led zeppelin didn't write tunes everyone likes, they left that to the bee gees"

Im not saying you’re lying m8,

im saying your conception of “everyone” might be misplaced, or at the very least differs.

I thought 'big room' was that utter shite above and beyond used to play around 2010....farty basslines and all that.
Yeah calling that track he posted big room trance was slightly harsh to himself :p but progressive trance with big room sounds

The Anjuna stuff we called trouse eh.
Then came the big room explosion

Really? I don't know, he seems really excited when he's playing trance again lately, looks like he's enjoying it a lot.
I hope the youngsters respond well to it and don't start missing the "no attention span big room."

I bet he smiles a lot too when playing Trouse/Dance or whatever is topping the (dance)charts. I do not for a second believe he 'loves' trance music.

Perhaps Tiesto saw the current state of streaming and the lack of money involved as he reached the pinnacle of his career and took a career move to get as much cash as possible before it all went tits up??!

My issue here is I have always assumed people get into underground music because they love it and want to contribute to it and the culture. That’s why I cant understand Tiesto moving from trance/prog trance/tech trance to whatever the fuck it is he has played for years. I can’t see how that passion can transition to the commercial shite that is EDM. Unfortunately, as several have said on this thread, the most plausible explanation is that he never gave a shit about the underground and played to what was popular. It’s simply that trance was the big thing when he achieved his first success.
I feel like an arse for posting this as I’ve met him twice (years ago, but…) and he’s the nicest dude. But I don’t get it.
