Lost in Trancelation
Was about to bash it...and I will!
The original is "standard" retrostyle boring breakbeat style. Cant help liking the club mix al little though. I dont think its suppose to be "trance" or that it was the intention. The gouryella bassline, soaring synths etc gets me a bit sentimental haha, but I dont really rate it besides that. Its kinda cheap because its too simple and just "borrows" TOO MANY elements from different kind of tracks from past, so somehow it doesnt feel genuine to me. It juse rides on this nostalgia wave without having any impact imo. Hope someone getting at what I mean. It really fees like a "simplified" not-too-serious attempt at creating trance but somehow still not want to be trance. Riding on the 90s (maybe early 2000s is more accurate) retrowave more or less.

Yeah I'm wanting it to be more powerful. And by that I don't mean use a stomping kick; I mean emotionally powerful. It is a bit too simple and minimalistic for my liking, but it does have lovely ideas and is very enjoyable. The original takes the cake, has some Bicep/Trance Wax vibes.
If the club mix had some tougher percs, some balls and some emotional energy it might be an awesome track. That being said I actually really like it. I like the vocals. Definitely Trance, just doesn't have that edge that older Anjuna tracks of a similar vein would have. It doesnt have to be explosive uplifting but something that makes the face scrunch just a little bit.
Breakbeat version is pretty nice too but prefering the club mix.

original - tries to be oldschool...what I dont like about it is those samples in the background which I heard hundreds of time. Melody and mood seems to be quite good, its in the same territory like the previous production
club mix - well, definitely a surprising thing, especially on Anjuna...BUT yeah...I must agree that this is not proper trance, its in the very same style just like Trancewax, which I consider quite weak, empty, without soul, almost amatuerish wannabe trance productions using samples and sound from the late 90s. This is slightly better than Trancewax, at leats it has a good melody, gouryella-like bassline and solid 90s vibe all over it. its not that kinda of track which will blow your mind at the frist listen tho...

I like the club mix as soon as It started playing. I don't think its tying to be serious Trance but reminds me of the prog-house on CD1 Anjunabeats from the mid year volumes which felt very much like Trance but with the slower beats and more simple. It sounds great no steroids to be seen, nice and balanced. It's a lovely track.
