Hmm don’t think it is as good as any of the solo stuff you’ve made, nor does it breath the classic sound much that you do so well.

enjoyable, but you’ve set the bar very high.

Thats fair mate :) Its always gonna be a love/hate thing I think once I do something slightly out of what my ususal sound is.
For me personally we wanted to do something that had a good cross blend between our own sounds, which I think came out well in the end.
Sounds in this track like the Bass (Lately Bass - famous sound for Classic Trance - also hence the track title), use of the 909 on the percussions and snares, and use of my hardware syths in there are all usually present within my own productions. But totally understand that its a little unusual of my own solo sound but always good to spread wings and explore :)

Not really hearing much old Sean Tyas here :( hope you guys collab once again in future for a 2nd release on Regen or something with both of your classic styles combined (if Tyas wants to use his more recent style then the Arksun remix format would be a perfect combo I reckon)

Also I wasn't expecting this sort of collab but I had hopes you two would collab ever since listening to Enigmatic (which reminds me of Fade to Black Sean Tyas Remix)

As for this track it's not something I was expecting to hear but loving this surprised collab so far, love the bass/pad combo during the breakdown as it instantly reminded me of the classic tyas style, not sure if you both tweaked that part or if it was just you or him.,track in general sounds quite warm with greater dynamic range compared to Sean tyas recent stuff mainly since Radiance / Anywhere / Midway - Amazon remix.

I wonder what Tyas did there, maybe just modern fashion tightening of the ES sound?

Really liking this anyways, sounds a lot like old Blizzard tunes (unlike that new shit from the actual Blizzard guys right before this tune on today's ASOT lol)

Thought I'd add my two cents to this and more or less repeat what I already said to you Nath'.

I do enjoy some elements with this one. The bassline, the gated vocal and the 'portamento' style melody :p... it's mainly just that heavy side chain type sound that my ears really don't get along with. Needs an 'Enigma State's Retro Mix' and all that modern stuff stripped back out of it haha.

For me that sound spoils an otherwise pretty nice track.

Much prefer your solo stuff (as you'll have expected anyway) but understand you wanting to try your hand and experiment with other things aside from what you're already best known for. An interesting collab nonetheless and certainly heard a lot worse.

On a side note, I'm surprised to see a thread for this one already, but nothing for 'Echoes of Silence' which you posted on Youtube a few weeks back. Now that's a tune!

Deffo. Plus, if Sean Tyas is interested, wouldn’t we all go for it? Of course, great opportunity. It’s a nice bit of recognition!
It wasn't that Sean was 'interested' per se, we've become really good friends over the last couple years, leaning on each other with music, studio gear nerding out, kids and even the dogs,.... collaborating never really got mentioned until 'Lately'...😜 (See what I did there) - and it wasn't something we thought about, but just more it felt the right time. If we had forced it, I think this track wouldnt have turned out like this.

We've definitely achieved a fusion of Sean Tyas and Enigma State sound which was the aim 🙂
But yeah full appreciate that those who like the ES sound may be on the fence, I'd imagine there's some ST fans who will feel the same too.

What music terminology can I teach you next? 😂 Maybe that should be a thing I just do now and drop you random voice notes with weird music jargon words 😂

Thanks. Pleased you like it 🙂
The idea came from a 16 bar loop that Sean sent me, and I kinda split it out and structured a track from it, added some of my own sounds etc, sent it back to Sean he done a bit more, and then back to me and back to him again.

The only thing we knew from the start was we wanted to use the famous 'Lately Bass' preset that comes from an 80s synth which is the bass pattern sound you hear, and why we called the track 'Lately'
