Shocking stuff that destroys what was once our trance scene

Nobody has ever called me an optimist, I am all for some negativity (just wait till you reach the last sentence of this post)

But in response to the question of this topic I must say: “Threads like these”. It just seems that the majority of the conversations that I read here revolve around the “good old days” and “what’s wrong with the scene now”. Totally different from what I remember from reading the forums when I was young (see I’m doing it muself). There was positivity back then!

Maybe we should face it. It is not about the scene, the quality of the music or any other reason. The truth is much more simple, the average trance fan is old, we’re old! And there is no way a 35-40 old will get as excited about a melody as a 16 year old did, that is simply a fact. The only thing that old people like to do is remember the good old days, this forum is a case in point.

PS: The promised last sentence: See, I was negative about negativity, top that!
You're right, we live like we're 16. amendment we would like to live. the most important question, what are young people looking for today? I think rubbish among peers, youth today are bombarded from all sides with merceting aimed at their populations. Trance chance that someone big will decide to revive the genre and invest enough to beat everyone. but I think we are approaching the bottom and it will be over soon. fear to think when our algorithms will create songs based on our weaknesses

@Ar7 brings up a good point.

I might not be as old as some of you absolute dinosaurs, but listening to trance for a bit more than 10 years has made me bored of it. The only thing that excites me about is that I might discover some gems and styles from the 90s, and that's it.

That said, please do feel free to bring the negativity and cynicism!

this species will never die. it is a very graceful music that will accept anything. personally, I am waiting for my resurrection. in my opinion, it's a matter of time. trance combines everything, but I am waiting the most for the return of the dirty classic
I was talking about the subgenre '"Uplifting" Trance', which is barely uplifting, if you ask me, more like upboring, not about Trance as a whole, Trance as a whole is way too complex to be completely repetitive.

I am surprised no one mentioned Amend Dark/Survey/Amend Recordings/Loyalty Survey/Amendaction/Survey Aggressive/Dark Survey - one of the worst generic trance labels (on beatport), way worst than the ones that you mentioned. Nu:Chain Music actually have some decent songs from time to time even if most them are a bit generic.

I believe there is only one person behind the label. Now don't get me wrong he has some good ideas and his music is likeable, but this is the most productive trance label spamming vey generic music.

Oh yeah, from time to time I do see his name there.

How has our good friend 'Chapter 47' not been mentioned yet?

Remember him? He paid earned his way to the top of the Beatport Trance charts with this banging, out-of-tune vocal trancer... 😂

He's currently touring North America in what looks like some sort of Salt Bae Halloween costume to crowds as big as 4 or 5 people.
Such trance, much talent, wow!

I forgot to add useless remixes of classic trance that should not be touched at all nothing more than lazy producers trying to sell themselves based on the title of the tracks or the success behind it. Seriously how many remixes of Greece 2000 is there or whatever

I would not enough agree with you, somebody want own vision of track he it see differently... let's remember 90s, 00s, already then producers interpreting songs 70s 80s 90s and cover version. Examples:

Eduard Artemyev - Siberiade theme (1979) 1 m. views
PPK Resurrection (2000-2001) 2,6 m. views
Zyon - No Fate (1992-1993) 0,261 m. views
Scooter - No Fate (1997) 4,1 m. views
Olive - You're Not Alone (1997) 3,1 m. views
ATB - You're Not Alone (2002) 9,9 m views
Donna Williams - True Love Never Dies 0,009 m
There's also another video have the highest views(+1000) cough cough cough... but I would not watch it (by Donna Williams) :)
Flip & Fill - True Love Never Dies 2001 1,7 m

That's just at the first what came into my head
Of course, this is not 100% indicator, but if this is good made and better. Why is not?

By a way sometimes remixes better than the original

Salt Tank - Eugina (Michael Woods Remix) (2000)

That Chapter47 guy gave an online lesson about music production. He did this for a British university.

I signed up for his lecture for free and got the MS Teams link. I asked him if it was a good idea to buy plays and purchase your own track to get High in the charts.

he says “you can, but I wouldn’t do it. I really wouldn’t haha. But if you want to know more, email me after the class”.

Really happened. Gagi and Hens were there too as I gave them the MS Teams link. They are my witness.

ohh that's rich, the audacity to buy tracks and buy your own plays and then give a lecture at a university as if you were a subject-matter expert

All of those tracks and remixes are before 2010's - The scene changed significantly after 2004/2005 peak and 2006 and 2007. The number of great remixes has diminished over the last 15 years.

Oh to add… he is an old-student there, so that’s how he was invited for such a lecture.

I like 90s and 2002-2005 too. Although 1998-2002 most adult stage of trance, it's just my opinion, if you want discuss which is the best period

Actually yes I filmed it with my phone.

But in the topic about him suddenly people felt sorry or whatever. People didn’t like trashing him on the forum. So I never posted it.

I’m not sure but I think I deleted the clips from my (work)phone 😉

the bar for good trance is literally on the floor

don't make the same steroid/uplifting trance that sounds exactly like everyone else, and you have something that is worth listening to for more than 1 second

this isn't to take away from people who are making actual good trance btw (Enigma State, jetflag, etc). I am just frustrated that 99.9% of trance producers simply have to stop producing exactly how they've trained themselves to do, but yet here we are
