Just been going through some of my unreleased ideas and I might have 'accidentally' ripped off' BBE - 7 days and one week, Green Martian - Industry, LFO - LFO and about ~10 other famous tunes. I'm tempted to test this theory but I will be upfront about my influences. I find this an interesting case because it's no different than other tracks I have released in the past, except I am now stating where I got the idea. I tend to write from that mystical place in our subconscious. It's not deliberate but it might be unoriginal. Some of it is deliberate but most is subconscious. I respect original art and music and would never take money for someone else's idea.
haha nothing wrong with that. for years all of my stuff sounded exactly like M.I.K.E. that's just how I learned to pick stuff apart and reverse engineer sounds though

Deconstruction is a great way to learn. It's better than just downloading a template, as happens a lot these days. You have to actually listen and understand.

Accidently, I was linked to the latest ASOT episode (1228). I guess I haven't listened to an ASOT episode for 8+ years or so.... Therefore, I became a bit curious ... As many others kids of the 90s, I grew up with the first ASOTs in 2001/2002 and these are still connected to great memories.

Of course of course, I know for a long time that Armin has gone worse, so I expected ...nothing. But right as the sounds had started I become actually shocked. What.The.Fuck.Is.This. ????

His current dj sets have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with trance music in any form. It's just crap, nothing more. How can he play such shit?! It would be okay for the old man, if he would just play genereic soulless melodic house but this is even worse. It's not just bad music it's JUNK. Really. I am speechless.

What happened to him over the years?! Bad drugs? Bad sex? Or both?

Seriously, what is this? (Just one example)

He should finally retire. He lost his mind for good music long ago and instead rapes the holy term 'trance' again and again and again.

Yeah that's on Anjunabeats the only decent track they have released on that label has been the new Signum track and Darren Tate and Solarstone track. He has played Hawk tuah girl clip in his clip. The only decent ones are the vinyl specials, like Airwave, Perry O'Neil special and Armin & Ferry playing vinyl that's about it. I stopped listening after 2008 but I do check it how horrible the tunes every now and then and I end up disappointed such terrible tunes that sounds terrible here at home. Just mental health issues by him and he has gone crazy in the deep end. @Pulser this is stuff I don't like and I had to listen to Seven cities after listening to this horrible piece.

The electro house stuff is terrible but this is equally as bad the vocals are horrendous and the bassline sounds like future trance record. I hate this trend of screaming vocals like this they don't fit in trance. Not even god can help both Bryan Kearney and Armin.

On my list of shocking stuff that destroys what was once our trance scene:

- Caring about stuff guys like Armin do.
- Giving promotion of stuff you don't like more than stuff you like.
- Not liking anything and complaining about it.

This is nearly perfect. Just a few more additions from my side:

- Visiting threads on Trancefix to let everyone on the planet know that a track is shite in your highly valuable opinion. Trying hard to make it look like your opinion is superior to [insert a label owner name]
- Being stuck in the past musically and demanding producers to make music like in 2000, with the same old production techniques
- Not even trying to listen to JOOF releases and automatically go to every thread with a label release to say that John is bad, their A&R sucks and you're the God himself who knows the things much better

Don't accuse people who don't like JOOF release to actually not listen to JOOF's track.

The shocking thing in the scene in the last few years is tracks that would be very, very 'mediocre' 20-25 years ago, are lourded as revolutionary productions and people name them as TOTY's....there are a LOT of overhyped/overrated producers out there nowadays. But some get away with it by putting on a 'performance' behind the decks, instead of just playing the music. Personality and social media posts wins over actual quality productions these days haha.

connaisseur syndrome.

having been so wrapped up, amazed and overdosed by “that thing” in your youth to such a degree that you cannot enjoy anything else (new) in the genre anymore.

basically the trance equivalent of hipster foodies

I think the ‘said’ destructive element of our trance scene depends on what people want the trance scene to be. It came from being at the peak of the dance movement around the late 90’s Golden era to starting a very long evaporation process just after the turn of the millennium.

Now, what’s obvious is we want great music to be available and easy to find, and regularly produced. But in a saturated market that’s not always easy. We can search through favourite labels but sometimes find ourself perhaps convincing ourselves (well I do anyway) that what we are listening to is really good, when actually it just is ‘ok’ compared to the highs of many classics that once were commonly released. But then there are genuine masterpieces that pop up too.

I find it a shame that out of all dance music, Trance is the least purchased (last time I checked) because being bias, I’m most into trance of all the dance genres.
I don’t know if there’s any research papers to examine why, but perhaps we are discussing the reasons here seeing as the name suggests reasons it’s got elements that destroy it.

I believe like as said much before the streaming / download market altered the music industry sooooo god damn much that now the only way enhance a scene (to me) almost solely depends on the habbits of streamers and downloaders and online based social media activity.
So many albums become available for free to listen to as they get put on YouTube. I was shocked to see the whole of ‘Innermost’ by Solar stone is already up by someone (Not a Richard Mowatt / Solar Stone channel) but someone claiming to ‘promote’ trance.
Isn’t it better just to buy it especially seeing as it’s only ‘just’ been released. - I can’t see the respect in presenting a whole album without proper permission. I’m guessing the law allows it but I don’t think it should.
