S.O.S. was a russian project which stole the "Melodrama" melody and became a hit on russian MTV channel.

Even the intro sounds the same xD

S.O.S. - Не Везет [2004] (starting from 0:41)

Nostrum - Melodrama [2001] (starting from 1:36)

There has to be some classical song that these are all based off, but I can't put my finger on which.

"Touch Me" (original and The Thrillseekers remix) sounds the same as "Shine".

Taskforce - Touch Me (Original Mix) [1999] (starting from 1:49)

The Space Brothers - Shine (Full Vocal 12" Mix) [1997] (starting from 1:55)

Although it's hard to verify how valid those accusations were, I don't think they're too far-fetched. Transa never defended themselves, and Exciter Recordings (and their own production career) ended shortly afterwards. That is very suspect, and unless Transa come forward today we can only assume that is true.

This is way off mark and completely untrue. Dave laughed at this rumour when I told him about it, but asked me to set the record straight and put this nonsense to bed.

Transa have never once claimed the track was theirs. It was simply re-recorded by them as they felt it wasn't quite up to scratch. Full transparency was also provided on the label to all parties.

Their stepping away from the scene also had absolutely nothing to do with this release or any so called controversy surrounding it.

"Transa made the UK top 4O, featured on more complications you could shake a stick at , 36 remixes of some of the biggest acts around.. and we needed to rip an unknown artist off…
😂

Well, that's good to know. And yeah, once you start thinking about it with more than one braincell, Transa's account of the events makes sense. Maybe Inzite just wasn't that good of a producer to begin with, so Transa stepped in and re-worked/re-recorded their track.
The rumor definitely lingered on trance.nu, and I remember reading the original thread + later references to the "controversy" back when trance.nu was still active. Of course I can't back that up with a link because trance.nu no longer exists.

Yeah I mean it's not the first time I'd read the story either if I'm honest. Although I wasn't on trance.nu I seem to remember accessing the archived forum or something where it could still be viewed a few years back. Seeing it again here recently though and with Transa back in the scene I thought I'd bring it to Daves attention and let him clear things up once and for all.

Having heard some of their stories, if anyone got screwed over by conmen etc. back in the day it was Transa! The lads are proper gents, legends and i'd have been hugely surprised if there was any truth to this.

Just another Scooter for this thread 🙃

Love it though.

Scooter - Level One [2003] (starting from 0:54)

Atlantis Ita - See You In The Next Life (Original Mix) [1999] (starting from 3:03)

And today I found out the true origins of this melody - ending theme from Turrican II: The Final Fight, composed by Chris Hülsbeck!

Perfect theme for a game ending imo :)

Chris Hülsbeck - Freedom [1991] (starting from 0:06)

Turrican 1 & 2 had amazing soundtracks. I've thought of sampling a couple of the tracks myself on occasion

Heard this remix today in Maria Healy vs. Ashley Smith set from Rong Manchester 2021 and suddenly noticed how similar it is to "Linking People" and to Giuseppe Ottaviani style as a whole.

Dobenbeck feat. Joanna - Please Don't Go (Greg Downey Remix) [2008] (starting from 3:13)

Giuseppe Ottaviani - Linking People (Original Mix) [2005] (starting from 2:41)

I have a feeling these 2 tracks sample some famous acid techno track, but can't put my finger on which one. Maybe something from Laurent Garnier? (as I can hear the little similarity with "Choice - Acid Eiffel")

Scot Project - H (Hypnotize) (Original Mix) [2019] (starting from 0:02)

Emmanuel Top - This is Cocaine [2017] (starting from 0:15 and so on)

Just heard "Deadline" in the latest Sneijder set and immediately noticed this obvious similarity to "Fire Drill".

Sneijder & James Dymond - Deadline [2020] (starting from 0:59)

Sam Jones & Will Rees - Fire Drill [2014] (starting from 4:26)

Garou: Mark of the Wolves - Rock Howard's Theme [1999] (starting from 0:51)

Robert Miles - Children [1995] (if you need the timestamps then what are you doing on trancefix 😏?)
