The JvD remix of RAMsterdam is an incredible track - i dont care if its a rip-off...they made it better.
My thoughts exactly. Plus, why wasn't JVD allowed to make a remix that is similar to Anticipation if Lemon & Einar K did that very thing themselves in 2008, a year after Anticipation was released? I'm talking about their remix of Daydream:

Don't take me wrong, it's a good remix (doesn't beat the Coldharbour Mix or the Ronski Speed Remix, though). But (at least IMO) it sounds too much like Anticipation to release it as a separate track. I'm sure that it's not the only track of theirs from 2007-2009 that sounds like it.

I'm sure most of trancers nowadays have definitely heard about DRYM project – it’s a duo from my country (Ukraine) consisting of Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight.

They constantly appear now on the most popular radioshows (especially ASOT) and have numerous releases on WAO138?!, Armada, Armind and other popular labels.

For me it’s strange how Armada just closed their eyes on their past “achievements”, who have been accused of ripping-off quite a few trance/trouse/other tracks and stealing samples.

Will Holland pres. Holla - Melodica

Will Holland pres. Holla - Melodica (Original mix) (2005) (from 3:56)

Dart Rayne - Arctic Sunrise (Original Mix) (2011) (from 0:55 and later at 3:28)

Creamteam - DivX

Creamteam - DivX (Original Mix) (2001) (starting from 2:20)

Dart Rayne - Teatro De Arena (Original Mix) (2011) (starting from 1:33)

Aly & Fila feat. Denise Rivera - My Mind Is With You (W&W Remix)

Aly & Fila feat. Denise Rivera - My Mind Is With You (W&W Remix) (2010) (starting from 2:37)

Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight - Athena (Original Mix) (2014) (starting from 2:59)

M6 - Unspoken

Mark Sixma presents M6 - Unspoken (Original Mix) (2011) (starting from 3:48)

Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight - Quadro (Original Mix) (2012) (starting from 2:52)

(there might be a lot of tracks with the similar sample idea ('Shogun - Skyfire' for example), as this kind of trance has been really popular 2011 to 2013. 'Unspoken' is just one of examples)

Hans Zimmer - Time

Hans Zimmer - Time (2010) (right from the start)

Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight and Cynthia Hall - Step Towards the Within (Original Mix) (2014) (notice the piano starting from 2:35)

And the last 2 trouse examples of DRYM borrowing samples:

KhoMha - Mind Gamer (Original Mix)

KhoMha - Mind Gamer (Original Mix) (March 2012) (starting from 3:59)

D-Mad - Jump Into Love (Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight Remix) (August 2012) (starts from 4:08)

Shogun - Skyfire (Original Mix)

To be honest it's a funny one as Skyfire melody itself isn't so unique xD

Shogun - Skyfire (Original Mix) (2011) (starting from 4:17)

Dart Rayne and Yura Moonlight and Cate Kanell - Shelter Me (2013) (starting from 2:23)

Tomaso Albinoni & Remo Giazotto (see Adagio in G minor - Wikipedia) - Adagio in G minor

Tiesto - Athena

AND

Rollerball - Albinoni

Tiesto's version (whoever remixed it under his name) is massive tho, from the breakdown onwards. It's 10x better than his interpretation of Adagio for Strings (itself kinda stolen without proper credit in the track name)... or perhaps I'm just a little sick of how overplayed is the latter.

I included the Above & Beyond version because the title suggests that it's their composition.

I think one of the Parade of the Athletes tracks borrows from Airbase/Ozone/The Scarab as well. That whole album was full of references to previous work, i.e. Coming Home was essentially Theme from Norefjell (DJ Jan & Christophe Chantzis remix).

There's a rip-off worth mentioning, but it happened behind closed doors. When Transa opened their Exciter Recordings label, they brought in a few upcoming producers like Parker and Inzite (Inzite had made the 2002 theme of trance.nu). The story goes that Inzite remixed Robert Lidstroem's track My spirit [2003], but Transa straight-up put their own name on Inzite's remix, labeling it as a "Transa vs. Inzite remix." Presumably this caused some controversy, and a thread about this was made on trance.nu. One of the posters who commented on it was in fact Christian Rusch!
I accessed that archived thread a few years ago but can't find it right now, unfortunately. This information was somewhere on the old Trancefix forum.

Oh that's interesting. I thought of that track as one of my favourite Transa remixes and now it appears to be Inzite remix o_O

Although it's hard to verify how valid those accusations were, I don't think they're too far-fetched. Transa never defended themselves, and Exciter Recordings (and their own production career) ended shortly afterwards. That is very suspect, and unless Transa come forward today we can only assume that is true.

'2000: Canarias' is a project made by Sven Gruhnwald & Sebastian Göckede in 2000.

I think there's no need to put a timescale here.....

Darude - Sandstorm (1999)

And a "chinese copy" of it!

2000 Canarias - Easy (Just Move Some) (2000)

BUT THAT'S NOT IT YET! :ROFLMAO:

They have another track which has the samples of Witness AND SANDSTORM AGAIN. xD

Revil O - Witness (Extended Mix) (1996) (starts from 2:52)

2000 Canarias - Sunseeker (Club Mix) (2000) (starts from 1:29)

+ I have to say this track has the same harmonies as the last 2 though it was out in 2006.

Rocco - Street Knowledge (Original Mix) (2006) (starts from 1:27)

Lemon & Einar K came with an idea. Which was Anticipation. This was a huge trance hit in 2008, on Ferry's Flashover label. When they use their own idea again for that remix, that's obviously fine, since it's their own idea. It's not that strange too to re-use your own idea, when you just had a big hit with it.

When Jorn used their idea, it was not his own idea. Hence, he stole and simply copied it. The problem I have with the whole RAMsterdam track, is how much praise it gets. Somehow, it's like in the top 10 best ever. It's a classic. I don't know how that's even possible when it's a track so clearly re-built on a previous hit by a different producer.

Antipication is a great track. It's not like it's an amateur version and Jorn made it magikal (you know, like Tiesto - Suburban Train). I always feel like it's unfair to Lemon & Einar K.

Precisely this happened with System F - Out of the Blue and Gouryella - Gouryella. I doubt anyone considers Gouryella a "rip-off" of Out of the Blue, since they are both from the same producers.
Self-plagiarism does happen, but both tracks are different enough that they don't feel like copies of one another.

Yes, this is the one you're thinking about:
Yeah! That's the one.

Listening to Indecent Noise stream on twitch now and he played a remix of famous Blank & Jones tune by Martin Roth....I couldn't resist posting it here!

Honestly I could never think that Martin Roth could do smth like this...

Also notice how the bassline sounds like Pure Thrust (Nu NRG Remix)

Blank & Jones Feat Elles - Mind Of The Wonderful (Martin Roth Remix) (2004) (starts from 1:49)

Plastic Boy - Live Another Life (2003) (starting from 2:44)

Basic Dawn - Pure Thrust (Nu NRG Remix) (2003) (check the bassline from 0:45)

In April 2009 Dinka release an EP on Anjunadeep with the tracks 'Civilization' & 'Zero Altitude'.

However, some tool renamed the 'Zero Altitude' track (passing it off as his own track 'Low End Theory - Changing Souls') and sent it to Ferry Corsten's Premier label.

They signed it up unware of it's lack of authenticity and subsequently the track appeared on Ferry Corsten new mix album "Once Upon A Night vol.2".

After becoming aware of the embarrasing error, Premier released this statement:
Premier Recordings Statement for release "Low End Theory - Changing Souls".

It came to our attention that “Changing Souls” by Low End Theory has previously been released as “Zero Altitude” by Dinka, originally released in 2009 on Anjunadeep.
Premier Recordings has released this track unaware of the fact that the person who submitted this music demo simply stole it from Dinka.

We feel sad for Low End Theory, whose real name is Michael Prior, and want to warn our business colleagues about the project name Low End Theory and Project X Recordings based in Oswana, Canada.

We are in contact with all rights owners and they will receive the income accordantly.

Thanks to James (Anjunabeats), Maurizio (Sirup Music) and Dinka for their understanding.

Premier Recordings,
A joint venture between Black Hole Recordings and Flashover Recordings.

Ah, how come I forgot about this?

Original: Transa - Supernova [1999]

Rip-off: Adam Sheridan - Lektrik [2003]

This rip-off is noteworthy because Tiesto almost took Adam Sheridan under his wing that year, and Sheridan's career was on an upwards trajectory. He played alongside some of the biggest names in trance, and I wonder how much of a factor Lektrik was in his success. Ultimately, his career never really took off, but it would have been interesting to see a big-name DJ with such blatant plagiarism. The best thing that came of this plagiarism was Adam Sheridan's Inside-Out mix of Lektrik, which is basically the tech-trance version of Transa - Supernova. It's really good, and even Ferry played it at Trance Energy 2004 (Soundcloud link).

Dude, I don't get why JvD is so famous. Everything I've heard from him is boring and generic, including that RAMsterdam track. This is coming from someone who likes the steroid trance of ~2014 like Photographer, Angry Man, Sneijder, etc, so the genericness and boredom levels of RAMsterdam must be off the charts.
Lemon & Einar K's original track Anticipation is miles more interesting with that signature Flashover electro style. Sorry ASOT folks, but JvD ain't it.

Maybe that's the piece of information that I was missing. I started listening to trance in early 2009, so apparently a year after Anticipation was released. Yeah, things start to make sense now. I thought it went under the radar, as many good tracks do.

I still prefer Jorn's version though. The chord progression is amazing in that one. I guess if it was released as Anticipation (Jorn van Deynhoven Remix) nobody would have a problem with it.
