That last part is obvious of course. I don't think many will deny that. He should have known better. Even at age 19 (which is young, but old enough). Why he would go on a friggin plane to the UK all the way from the Netherlands for an online date... is already beyond me. Haha.

The question seems to be though, if someone after a certain punishment, deserves to participate in life and therefor Olympics if he's good at sports. And I don't think the "public" should interfer with the justice system so much. People do wrong things. If we're going to pinpoint to everyone's bad things we might just call quits altogether. Let the guy learn from his mistakes and try to be a better man now. (Which he has for the past 8 years, so fair play to him).

---

But... I'd rather discuss the actual sports to be honest. This could be a very nice Olympics topic.

Today... Djokovic - Nadal, likely their last official meeting. It won't be too close i'm affraid. Nadal isn't capable of a big fight I think. But the atmosphere will be great.

Many exciting sports events coming up on the Olympics. Too much to choose from. The athletic elements, with our Femke Bol, will be exiciting. And the water polo matches are also pretty fun to watch. Just as handball. I'm having a nice couple of weeks to be honest!

btw a new little Olympic example of cancel culture: commentator did a little joke, fired.

The joke: woman team was late in the swimming arena. Commentator joked the woman might have been busy with make-up.

How dares he! After working since the 80’s he is now fired. lol. The clip:

Any employer firing you for that is not worth having you as an employee.

^ I have the opposite opinion. Way too many people like yourself who make such statements, probably without looking into the actual story.

so the guy was 19, when going on a date with this 12 year old in the UK. They had online contact and were into each other. It ended up with sexual acts, with consent.

The girl has never complained and is completely fine. They really liked each other and things happened.

Now. In the UK they call everything ‘rape’ when someone underage is involved. Consent or not. So here’s why the guy is now ‘rapist’. He had to go jail. The girl never called police or whatever. But that doesn’t matter in the UK.

The guy has finished his sentence, years ago by the way. So he deserves to participate normally. He has a relationship for multiple years with a lady from around his own age (he is 28, she is ~31).

He said in a public interview that the things that happened were the biggest mistake of his life. Even though there was consent the girl was too young. He was 19 and didn’t think of it properly.

And now, yeeaaaarsss later, you and (mostly international) media start a which hunt on the guy. Why? What does the guy have to do to be able to live his life?

He served his time and the girl never even had issues with what happened anyway, nobody is harmed.

This is what they call ‘cancel culture’ (in the Netherlands, is this a thing?). Someone did something?? Oh, take away their whole life and forever point your finger.

It’s messed up.
In the US, minors are not legally allowed to consent. It's irrelevant if the minor wanted to have sex. That is how we've gotten so many female teachers arrested, including one ex-classmate.

Imo, that was a well warranted firing. That joke is too risky in today's gender relations climate. The broadcaster probably wanted to cover their own asses, so his head needed to roll.
Experience doesn't matter. Using experience as an excuse is the same behavior that allowed sexism to remain alive for so long in workplaces, families, and other areas of society.

Some amazing tennis today. Djokovic gave his heart and soul and it was rewarded by his gods. Alcaraz played great, apart from two mistakes in the 2nd tie-break, which made it a little easier for Novak.

Historic Olympic Gold. The only big title he hasn’t won yet. He now won everything and sealed the GOAT status even more than after he did after getting the most slams a while ago.

This absolute fucking monster

Duplantis was further ahead of #2 than #2 was of #11 and now has all of the top 10 highest jumps in history - insanity

I also just love how the second and third place holders cheered him on from start to finish after he secured gold. Great sportsmanship

Great olympics! I was lucky to go in person to many of the events and enjoy the atmosphere. I love swimming the most, but surprisingly the skate boarding was one of my favorites. When you see it in person you get way more appreciation for the things they can do.

I follow soccer and F1, but I enjoy watching the Olympics as well—especially track events. If you're on a health journey like many athletes, Buy Wegovy Online. It's designed to help in weight management. Visit the site for information on how it works and its pricing options.

Love watching anything where there's speed and racing involved.

Running, Cycling, Motorsport.
Following F1 since about 2005/6,
love rallying as well.

I used to train in a pro athletics club back during 2008-2011 (100/200m sprinter).

I do miss the sprint competitions.
Sprint feels like flying, the contact with the ground is very short, while the amount of time where you're off the ground is comparably very long.

It's addictive and even after more than 10 years later, I still regularly get flashbacks of starting from the blocks
(usually when I'm in bed). My whole body jolts. ⚡

I support my local football team. Gave up on watching England some point after 2010 and typically they did a bit better under Southgate, but I'm just not interested in watching them play. I have goal alerts on my phone to stay in the loop though I guess.

I also like table sports: snooker and pool, pool has many disciplines and quite often is live on YouTube. Darts can be fun too.

I’m mainly into soccer and F1. Can’t miss a Premier League weekend or a Grand Prix!
I follow tennis during the big tournaments like Wimbledon and the US Open.
Super excited for the Olympics too—track & field and swimming are always intense.

I’m mostly into tennis and F1 lately — the strategy behind both keeps it interesting. I catch some of the bigger soccer matches too, especially during the World Cup or Champions League. With the Olympics coming up, I’m curious to see how the track events and gymnastics go this year. On a side note, for anyone managing type 2 diabetes and trying to stay active, I’ve heard that medications like Ozempic can really support long-term energy and weight goals. You can Buy Ozempic Online if your doctor recommends it — just putting it out there for those balancing fitness and health.
