was made legally with a big respect to original and its creators.
With cover versions (meaning there are no actual stems/samples from the original used, but only self-made elements are used) you don’t need permission.
Btw it’s good to see the Insta post, makes the context slightly better.
For me it’s simply a moral thing. Specially if it’s “one of your favorites”. I can’t imagine using the main melody from Svenson & Gielen’s “Twisted”, put some vocals on it, and then release it under my own with a random title. I would feel sick and embarrassed if I’d do that. I mean, it would be the greatest honor to have an official remix of them. The holy mighty music I adore, touched by me… the pinacle of achievements… that’s how I would experience that.
So that’s why I find it strange - if like he claims its one if his favorites ever - he would not go for Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar (Luvstruck Vocal Edit) or whatever. Even Luvstruck - Café Del Mar would at least mention the famous title. (Maybe Spinnin’ had a say in it, to release like this for marketing purpose).
It’s nothing new though, this happens all the time, releasing covers as original. So this track is just an example of many. I just don’t like these practices. You’ll never see me do it. But like I said: okay, at least there’s the insta post… I guess it’s something.
