Another belter from SFST! His first release in a 1-track-per-month release schedule for the next 6 months.

Love the energy here, but would honestly love more sub-bass rhythm. Nonetheless I am always a fan of the experimental nature of his tracks. It is exactly what the music scene needs IMO, someone and something with actual balls.

Is it perfect? No. Can it be better? Well, everything can be. But just listen to that break! It's phenomenal, reminiscent of the early 90s acid techno/trance/whatever.

Phat fucking chords, what more can you ask for???

I actually don't mind the length, I think it works. If it were an 8-minute track, it would need more variation and a slightly different style - something darker and faster - which I wouldn't mind hearing.

I agree. I wish it had more to it though. Its also a good idea to listen to the whole track before one whines about the lenght . the ideas doesnt feel fully realised to me, but very cool track. The synths remind me of the most iconic track from metroid prime 2.

Damn, the production design of this track is insane. Love it! Wouldn't mind it being a couple of minutes longer, though

Guys n' Gals - as always, I read everything from afar, and I really do appreciate all the positive comments, and equally, any items of feedback are really important and I honestly try to both please myself when making music, as well as connect with the intended audience.

Can't always promise to get it right, but any convergence with what people love I will take :)

I really hope everyone finds at least something they can enjoy with the new batch of tracks I'm working on, but I honestly have zero idea how some will land, as they're really just me experimenting and coaxing sounds out of my gear that make me smile. It's really that simple.

As for the length - this is the eternal struggle. In all honesty, we all want radio play, and seven/eight minute long singles aren't going to achieve that, and I'm not a fan of revisiting old material for the sake of extended remixes (someone else usually does that ;)).

From the coming batch, they'll range from four minute singles with hooks, to much longer mind melting stuff which I honestly couldn't put a genre label on.

Anyway, thanks for being such a positive and kind community.

Kill'em Quick hits streaming services on October 21st.

Why are radio plays important? Do you mean radio shows like PURE? They can just mix it in however they sit fit. for the length. The 6/8 minute mark is not a problem, it gives tracks more time to develop which has always been a big part of Trance and electronic in general.

Radio plays is not as important as it used to be unless you are a bigger artist perhaps. You wont get radio plays anyway with a 5+ min track or improving your chances to get included on editorial playlists. Whats better to do imo is to create a radio version that you pitch to Spotify and put as the first track on your release and then an extended version for your (engaged) fans.

When does any Trance get played on commercial radio hehe...thats the only reason youd make 4 minute tracks.
Maybe not radio, but shorter tunes are more likely to end up on featured playlists on Spotify and the like.
Though I prefer to just add a "Radio Edit" version to the release rather than cut down my original - that's just me though ;)

Some interesting comments here, and certainly food for thought.

The track length is too focused on nowadays, in my opinion. When I make a track, that tracks is what comes out. When I'm asked to add beginnings/endings etc. I generally don't because if a DJ can't mix in with what they're presented, that issue isn't mine.

In terms of 'radio edits' that's absolutely fine and easy for producers using VSTs/Presets/MIDI chord packs/sample packs etc. etc. but when I'm recording hardware, I literally perform all the knob twiddling live, and record random and live elements. When cutting these down later on, the effort to crossfade, find similar filter settings yet STILL manage to convey the same energy is just way too much effort when the track is already complete in my mind.

The problem with the internet is generally too many opinions and too many differing tastes to cater to. Best way to do it for me personally is to make music I love making and thoroughly enjoying jamming out live... if anyone else likes it too, then that's a bonus.

It's very important for me to take feedback onboard, but then some of my favourite records are things I'd never have considered, and surprises from artists I enjoy (I never knew I needed a song about a milkman's wife's tits until the Aphex Twin made it :) ). So I guess that what I'm trying to say is you either make what you want, or compromise to the needs of others.

Kill'em Quick was complete to me, and I'd nothing more to add. Whatever length it would've ended up at is the length I released it into the world at, because for me, it says everything I want it to say and when you start padding stuff out, it's noticeable.

Also, when you bow down to populist pressure, you end up with Timmy Trumpet and Steve Aoki collaborations. No fucker should aspire to that. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
