Mad how things turn out. Found that one a nightmare to mix as I’d betrayed my minimalist approach so after that I though there’s no way these can be the first three in the record and then started the album again.

Jet - do you ever sit to make a whole piece or just track by track.

occasionally..its difficult though... working in a DAW makes it hard IMO, because its "blocky" so to speak. its track/layer based and so i quickly lose myself in the details instead of the bigger picture...

I have this offshoot project called " dream recorded" Where I've basically written down a dream I had the other night on a piece of paper or book (so i can remember it) and then sitting down in the studio afterwards to try and make " the soundtrack" so to speak.

often I sort of already have the story in my head of what needs to happen or what the tone/atmosphere should be, and all thats left is picking or making the right sounds.

For my MA I was almost tempted to dig into the psychology of the way we visually interact with DAWs and how they force us to work in a particular way.

a single instrument song like a guitar or piano piece is in that sense a lot more natural, as you can instantly use your (trained) fingers and familiarity with the sound of the instrument for the direct result.
