Inspired by that other thread? haha.
Honestly, that's most likely true.

I was. I dont remember if that made me explore the genre or if I was familar with it a bit earlier through some producers.

Anyone got statistics concerning listening habits or searchable genre terms? Does that exist ?

The closest is probably Google trends querying from 2004 onwards in the entire world.

Any good chilled synthwave?

Looking for the same thing myself. As I dont know much about the genre when I search YT its just endless mixes or tracks with 10m views, many of them bit cheesey or too upbeat. Maybe 'Vapourwave' or 'Chillwave' is what we need, although I dont understand the differences personally.

@Daysleeper have you got some more chill and/or serious Wave music to suggest? That Home - Finally Landing track posted above really got me interested.

Not a genre i'm too well acquainted with, but i recently got to heard Robert Nickson's take on it and i'm really digging it.

Post your recommendations here!

Analog 82 - Youthtopia

Nice stuff. That would explain him remixing The Midnight. I'm loving Robert Nickson's remix of The Midnight - Los Angeles

More from this chill genre. I know its probably more vapour than synth, but close enough.

I was ALL-IN on synth/retrowave in 2017/2018. Feels like it has already had its "peak", no?

[/MEDIA]

I spent most of 2018 in a synthwave tizzy and found oodles of diversity in a sound that most people knocked as being too similar to each other. I agree by the end of 2018 I felt like there was little new developments being made, other than darksynth going even heavier and more popular. That and a lot more newer artists wanted to join in after their idols had left or stalled out....

Its a pretty insulated scene with its own community that really likes making and listening to it and only it, which can eventually get tiring when enough artists have put out their great albums and then moved on. But its great music overall and really cool how far its developed over time.

So yesterday I've been to my first event (or should I say party) since February 2020, and it was a live performance from a fresh synthwave / retrowave artist - Ready In LED from Kyiv, Ukraine. As a person who enjoys Cyberpunk2077, Daft Punk and 80's aesthetics culture I really loved her performance! And I love her artist name btw :)

So far she has released only 1 EP called "Unreal" (incl. the remixes) few months ago, on a label called "Horny City" :devilish: and it's really nice.

Here's a little sci-fi mini-movie based on this release.

P.S. this girl is the world's first owner of a Lumatone isomorphic keyboard, which is pretty awesome.
