The story behind "Cygnus X - Superstring" by Matthias Hoffmann [Interview]

It was not easy to find him and he hardly does interviews; Matthias Hoffmann a.k.a. Cygnus X. So I’m super happy he said “yes” when I did ask him to share the story behind the classic “Superstring”. Oh and in case you didn’t know, Matthias is also one of the founders of the legendary Eye Q Records!

Here’s the complete interview I did with him, enjoy!

Great catch this one Twan. This guy is so down to earth. Apparently, he's not into our scene at all. It's interesting to see how he looks on a track like Superstring. It's extremely big for some of us (whether the original or the Rank 1 remix), yet for him, it's not that special.

Superstring sort of rocketed the Cygnus X name into commercial stardom, when Rank 1 remixed it in 2000. But he never really took advantage of that fame. He just wanted to live another life, producing music he likes. You can only respect such decisions.

Thank you very much! It took me a while to track Matthias down, not an easy one to find hehe.... So I wasn't really expecting a positive reply when I did reach out to him to be honest. But he was really enthusiastic, so I was of course excited to meet him. The building where he has his studio, is the same building where he made the Cygnus X / Brainchild tracks etc. In that building Oliver Lieb also had his studio, Resistance D (with Pascal F.E.O.S.), Alter Ego (with Roman Flügel) etc.

So I'm very happy with this one, especially since there wasn't much known about him. I hope it get a lot of views and that people will check out more of his old and new work :)
