Hello again,

Here's something "new" from my label...like said a little while ago, we're going to push things slightly different with Tranc-ier releases (White background) vs Dark Progressive releases (Black background) plus, every now and then, an exclusive remix which, again, could be either Trance or Dark Progressive.

So..here's the forthcoming label release, set to be out on Beatport on Aug 27th.

2002 - Extended Preview

https://soundcloud.com/landscapes-music-official%2Ftrance-com-2002-extended-preview-landscapes-music
TranceDotCom - Extended Preview
https://soundcloud.com/landscapes-music-official%2Ftrance-com-trancedotcom-extended-preview-landscapesmusic
Longer/Extended versions will automatically be made available by YouTube itself on release date.

I know, these might not be sounding "trending" as current Trance maybe but hey... we like trying at least adding some different flavour to the cake with the tracks/artists we sign.

Hope you'll like the EP and, as usual, any constructive feedback is always more than welcome! ;) 🙏

The mastering is really off or something . I dont like that it sounds so muted but at the same time its like every element has extra amount of white noise on it which makes it sound really crowded /noisy .Wheres the clarity in this? Especiall the mid to upper low end ? way too much white noise on the snares. I mean you dont have to sound like the steroid guys but this is on the other side of the extreme spectrum. Its too bad because the synths feel quite fresh in this but they guys dont let the synths shine. It reminds me a little of the Swedish act Earthbound.

Cheers for the detailed feedback!
This will be shared with both our label team and the master engineer in order to pay attention to these aspects with our future releases. :)

It goes without saying that it's good getting these type of comments since we can normally refer to just "our" ears and the master engineer's ears (who constantly gives us feedback on the tracks pre-mastering as well). I find it very interesting and useful to see what people reactions are according to the environment and the gears used to listen to our tracks.

i mean just compare it to exposure - magic impulse. its not that complex of a subject. what the heck happened to peoples ears haha

I dont know if the issues is with the mastering department or if the guys making the track intended it to sound like this.

Sure thing, although that track by Mike has a totally different build and development but, still, a masterpiece for sure.

Using it as a comparison though might be tricky 'cause it has a completely different sound design (surely a hell of a production) and build (which is very subjective aspect of a track). Obviously, I know where you're coming from, analysing the mid-high range freqs spectrum of that track as comparison could be done if you want to achieve the best results with your own tune, hence why we'll check those points you raised to try avoid having big mix issues in the pre-master phase, which is where you can really work on a track with the hope of fixing whatever sound issue may come up. ✍️

I get your points. I think my big concern/question is :

WHY the excess amount of white noise ? Why does it sound so chaotic/crowded? Where is the clarity and space between the elements? And dont tell me you dont know what im talking about. Maybe its an artistic expression? Is it only me that thinks this approach hides and mask the actual music? You made a mix containing all classic tracks awhile back so you are surely familiar with how old tracks mixing/mastering/sound design are made.

Sure, I know those tunes indeed and I know how they sound compared to today. However, when you grow your stuff (label) alone it just takes more to get those things day by day sounding close to perfection. Some of those tunes back in the days sounds great to certain aspects, they don't for some other aspects (not the right topic where to talk about I suppose). They surely did have much more simplicity in the build and in the way the main melody riff comes out in the mix, I give that as what is really missing in the last 10-15 years of music. A combination of simple ideas layered and blended together nicely. For example Magic Impuls isn't that "easy-simple" tune to make because it's got so many little details that made it so perfect when you hear all of them together. Even the 808 toms used as sub bass/low kick do sound amazing in that track, just saying. I'm sure there's still a lot to say and to "offer" in the scene once the right balance will be found. Hopefully I can get that idea I have of my label becoming solid and solid day by day. (a.k.a. fixing anything sound related while learning both productions and label management skills).

Dont ge me wrong. I like the music presented here. So in that regard I say:

Keep up the good work.

I will never get constructive feedback wrong because it's the main essence to improve to any level, in life. So keep 'em coming in with any other label's release I'm going to post in the future here.

reminds me a bit of George Hales pres. Radiate tracks in terms of mixing/mastering.

If that was the aim, then fine. If not, I agree with Daysleeper and you could polish it up a bit more.

that all being said, Liking the track music wise, Proper release (y)

Thanks for the feedback, had a quick listen to a few of his tracks back in the days, I reckon something with the master might be similar but in the end no, we never really thought about that (or, at least, not that I am aware with the Master engineer). Thank you again!

cheers!! Thank you!

Music wise this is pretty good, the overall idea and melody for sure. I do agree that things sound a bit chaotic or too merged together, which is a common thing nowadays I find in modern Trance. Breakfasts tracks can be the same. Like there are so many elements/layers in the track that it's a bit congested and maybe the percs feel like they are creating too much background noise.

That said 2002 isnt too bad for what i'm describing... I really like it in fact! The melody is sweet and takes me on a good journey. I'm glad to see this kind of Trance on your label, its more adventurous with the music. With some more spacious sound design it could be phenomenal.

Thanks man!! Glad to hear it and hopefully to have more and more of these tunes coming for my label in the future! :)

I must say this is took me by surprise at how much I liked it. I listened through them a few times now, with 2002 being the stronger one for me.

I can understand some of the comments on mastering but It didn't stop me from enjoying these thoroughly. Letting it breathe more would likely lift the wonderful musical ideas and melodic work further. Removing some elements in key moments could be the solution, as well as sharpening the strong characters in the mix.
