Open Up Your Mind is the title track of the first and only EP by a collective featuring no fewer than five different musicians, which also included the similarly interesting Base and Trancexual. The track features a repeating female vocal urging listeners to “open up your mind to the trance”, combined with a strongly psychedelic character and sounds reminiscent of Indian horns, resulting in a truly hypnotic experience. Interestingly, the vocal sample originates from German astrologer Antonia Langsdorf, who had her own show on Germany’s RTL.
The track remains one of the most viewed pieces on the YouTube channel 2trancecentral, which focuses almost exclusively on early 1990s trance, techno, and ambient productions. It is perhaps not surprising that one of the icons of the era’s electronic scene, Sven Väth, also played this track in his sets at the time.
