What a classic this is. There are two short breakdowns, a 40 sec one at 2 min and 15 sec at 5:30. The rest of the track is pure energy and that repetitive synth is the star. Such a simple synth yet so punchy and energetic when combined with the bassline which rises and falls at just the right moments. Also fabulous are the epic pads in the background. Technically simple but musically an absolute masterpiece.

Crazy to think that this charted in the UK, at #42 on the singles chart.
Enervate is also the closing track for Paul Oakenfold's legendary mix Tranceport. Honestly, this track holds up pretty well against the other classics like Greece 2000, Rendezvous, and even the Three 'N' One Cafe del Mar remix.

When I now hear this track, I imagine that I'm playing a racing video game and drifting like a pro. It just has that "Hook Recordings" sound perfect for Need for Speed and similar late '90s/early 2000s racing games.

Yeah, it holds its own next to those great classics.
It was also the last tune on CD 2 of Oakenfold 2 years at Cream resident, an absolutely wicked compilation.
Hook Recordings was a great label and their back catalogue is available on Beatport under Bellboy Records.
