Hi all,

I may have some strange hobbies and this is one of them: Watching road trips on highways all over the world while listening to trance music. One channel on youtube provides exactly that, so let's take a trip through my homeland. :)

I'm curious: In which other situations aside from "Your trance world" (At least this is what it feels to me because I am yet to meet another person who likes this kind of music) did you occur trance? Are there any moments where trance music showed up completely unexpected? And are there other situations in which you think trance music would fit very well?

This might be an irrelevant topic but I'm curious to hear other people's experiences.

Last time I heard trance music when I did not expect it was in Peru. I was walking thru a market. One of the standholders was blasting an old 'ASOT' podcast. I remember hearing Gouryella - Ligaya. Maybe it was this one:

Maybe not very unexpected, as the movie is about trance producer (Suzy Solar), but still :)

Featured tracks:
  • Bariuz & Exosun - Akinya (Original Mix)
  • Martin Duckworth feat. Amber Traill - Let Me Go (Original Mix)
  • A.Shine - Dove (Matt Chowski & Suzy Solar Pres. Xenera Remix)
  • A.Shine - Never Leave (Jesper Olesen Emotional Remix)
  • Alex Project - Second Skin (Myk Bee Remix)
  • Jimmy Chou - Chasing The Sun (Original Mix)
  • A.Shine - Conversation (Dreamy Emotional Remix)

Thats what always strikes me about Trance - you hardly hear it anywhere else. A crying shame for one of the great genres of music - theyd rather listen to some crappy pop chart music....

Trance hasn't been popular with the teens/young adults demographic since the early 2000s, and even then it was largely unknown outside of Europe.

For something more on-topic: I'm still amazed that the "Hi, I'm Renata Bliss, your freestyle dance teacher" meme used John 00 Fleming's song The Winds of Change are Blowing.

In one of the first seasons of big brother in Norway a girl won some competition and could decide one song she wanted to listen to on the speakers in the house. She choose Tiesto - Walking On Clouds. I was very busy with work that time working on a boat, so i actually hadnt got my hands on the Just Be album yet which was only a month or so old. So it was the first time i heard it. And i fell completly in love with it.

I will never forget that :p

To this day Walking On Clouds and Ten Seconds Before Sunrise is my 2 favourite trance songs from Tiesto (yes i know Josh Gabriel produced Walking On Clouds but whatever). Also they are problably on my top 20 list of all time as well.

I was watching the Tour de France show in (I think) 2012 and in the background of certain sections they used a really trancey tune. I tried my best to find out the name of it, even emailing the show at the time, to no avail. It's a shame because it had an excellent melody to it and it still annoys me I don't know the name.

You could try finding the video and writing in ID requests thread ;)
