Is it possible to judge the track after one listening session, is there any justice in it?
there is such a thing as love by first stimulation
but it's a very rare phenomenon, can you judge someone's work on the basis of a first touch?
many songs reveal your face and emotional value after a few times!
almost like a girl who was normal and became your whole life ...
Its possible sure, Its like falling in love..But you have to keep in mind that your emotional (so not technical) perception of pretty much any piece of art is *highly* dependant on the current (mental) state you as a person are in in that moment, as well as the piece's intrinsic qualities.
So your mood will invetably set the qualia. no matter how "objective" you think you are when judging the piece. Thats just a psychological twerk we all share.
I think all of us have some mediocre trance track or "guilty pleasure" of which we can't genuinly and objectivly specify as to why we just like that particular piece over something fairly similar. Most in promptu explanations when pressed will go something along the lines of: well it just has that "feeling" or "soul" or "spirit" or some other vague metaphysical term, and you know what? they're right. It is however very often mistaken for an objective marker. when it is in fact an extremely (specific mental tone-based) personal one.
Now one way to bypass this problem is to ofcouse give all things a second listen, but thats very time consuming and so how do you decide on which specific tracks you hand that privilege to? narrowing things down to a specific time period can help, but even that has its limitations and still govers a huge amount of music.
so, that being said, what consequences does this have for the larger corpus of trance music? well, yes.
most of it will go to waste as being genuinly emotionally satisfying for you.
is that unfair to all that hard work being put into all those track? yes. But its the same with love. its not fair, and neither is is meant to be.
