The execution I think was weak. Dreams are often surreal, disorientating, random, imaginative and psychologically rich experiences, but all the dream scenes and settings in Inception are these grey, dull, sterile and straightforward environments, and every goal is solved with a detonator and safe. It's more like the being in the Matrix. The tech and mechanics are contrived and silly too, and the premise about dismantling a corporation is boring. Also Nolan has a very black and white conception of how dreams and the mind work. Characters are weak too, apart from Cobb. Action so boring.

I do think he's overrated. He's never done a movie I'd consider 9/10 or higher. Interstellar and Dark Knight his best ones, both around 8.5/10, and that might be considered generous. Rewatched Memento couple years back and thought it was solid enough, but not as great as I remembered. Dunkirk and Oppenheimer were boring. Batman 1 was decent but had issues in last act, and 3 was a shocker. Tenet the worst big blockbuster movie ever made, 4/10. I have strong suspicion Odyssey is gonna be let down tbh.

Watched this in the cinema yesterday. Been following Curry Barker for a while, the guy is a genius and definitely was hyped to see this one. Incredible story, performances and gore. Definitely the best movie this year, and everyone should watch this if you like horror.

8.5/10

Sure, but “the dreamers” in the context of inception are not you and me ey? They are (subconsciously) trained/ the equivalent of a commando-lucid-dreamer. Without that tidbit of context yes, it would not make sense and he should gone the road of say: “The Cell” But seen as virtually every person in the plot is, it does. 🤷
