Watched! Not 9.5 for me personally, but I do have to admit that McDormand acted superbly here. Besides Ran by Kurosawa, I did not watch anything even remotely similar to this (although I did watch a few movie adaptations of plays). The fact that Gleeson only had a couple of minutes of screen time did not help.

But still, glad I watched it, it was interesting enough. Subs needed for sure, could not follow the old English - and even had issues with Serbian since it was more or less in the same "form".

Visually it's almost a masterpiece, although the castles etc. all look a bit too 21st century, like they were designed and made by Apple. Everything was just a bit too clean, sleek and minimalistic. That was probably intended, but I do like my historical accuracy. Plus...if you want to portray a corrupted and troubled mind visually, why make everything around it look so good? And lastly: The haircuts, beards etc...why?

Plot-wise, I liked the first half of the movie more. I never felt the "tragedy" or connected with any of the characters, even less so as the movie went on. Felt it needed to be much longer for that effect, and it seemed like it skipped all the good bits.

I loved this show, just finished it as well. Fantastic final episode and great season. Such a well done show I will watch it again in the future. Really loved the characters and cared about them, found them interesting. I wished the season was maybe 2 episodes longer as there is so many unanswered questions and you could tell they kind of had to rush things. I also just loved it so much I was sad its now over.

One thing I loved was the UI design on all the ships and technology. It's the most detail and quality Ive ever seen in a TV show, its so beautiful. Not just the 3D stuff but the 2D especially. Starting to recreate some of it actually. Even the set design was really nice and the CGI felt believable.

8.5/10

what I love about the show aswell is the on-point IRL physics of it, They do take some liberties like with the accelation/travel time and the lack of proper Radiators on the ships. but especially the space combat is just soooo well done, each frame has just so much detail Youtuber Spacedock has a whole playlist of it, highly recommend., Another thing I though was great is how diverse the casting is/people are, without this at any point in the show becoming unnecessarily preachy or a reflection of modern day politics. This Series is about good story telling, escapism, relatable caracters who you can empathize with and amazing stunning visuals.

oh, and Amos shall be henceforth known as my Spirit Animal.

Psychotic, emotionally challenged, hedonistic thick-neck? Lol

Theres about 6 episodes in S3 where it takes a mini nose-dive, think it was when money was running out and they were about to cancel. Then Amazon bought it (the head of Prime was a big fan) and then it recovered nicely!

you're not that guy, He is that guy. 🤘

there's this one scene in season 5 where he takes on 4 belters with his toothbrush who're attempting to maffiozi his two belter bunkmates. Taken out of context, this could seem like a tough guy cliché "do you feel lucky, punk" sort of scene.

But it's so much deeper than that. In the books Amos was looking for a fight since he'd learned about Lydia's death. He thought about starting a fight in a bar on Tycho Station with a poor Belter who was glaring at him, resentful of his obviously copious cash, but he decided to buy him a drink instead. Initially when he boarded the freighter, he sort of asks everyone if they snore and slams his trays around a it. But when it turns out the people there are all just humble, ordinairy workers, he sort of sadly rests his head & doesn't engage anymore.

However, when the gang comes along for their "protection racket", Amos perks right up, because he knows he's found a fight he won't feel conflicted about. When he says, "I didn't do it for them", what he means is that this wasn't about the protection money, it was about finding someone to beat the shit out of.

Amos can't really process grief like most people due to him being abused as a child in Baltimore, and he's filled with a sense of rage over the idea that someone may have murdered Lydia, because in his world, dying of natural causes was virtually unknown. So the only way he knows to cope with the agitation and uncertainty he feels is to engage in violence, because that's actually when he feels most calm - that's when he knows what to do.

To me he's a quitessential example of a monster, who despite him barely understanding the concept. decides to be as Good of a person as he can be.

The French Dispatch. New Wes Anderson. Wont say i'm die hard Anderson fan but enjoy his movies. This one didnt really do much for me, not that interesting. Its 3 short movies so you can review them individually. I really liked the first one

Some of the few I’ve watched recently:

Licorice Pizza (2021)

I was impressed by both mc’s acting performance and their chemistry more than anything specially the kid playing Gary. For his cinematic debut, I thought it was a strong display for him. I was not so impressed/hooked with the plot as it was a bit too childish for me. The film is still really good overall tho’. (7.5/10).

Nightmare Alley (2021)

Enjoyed it mostly due to the second half where it really picked up in pacing and got interesting for me. The performance by Cooper is genuinely good and his character was really the aspect I appreciated the most about the film due to the depth, especially at the end. One could say the ending of this film is the best part. Production design/cinematography was also great. (8/10).

I watched The Batman last weekend. I thought it was really good.

I watched it. Was good, bit too long.
Not sure it's up there with Nolan's first two though. I think if they hadn't existed I would have liked it more. Solid effort though.

Knives Out

Finally watched a movie I liked, with almost no complaints. A miracle for me honestly. Such a charming and somewhat unique movie, that is interesting and quirky, but not trying too hard to be, like some Wes Anderson movies are. Wholesome type of movie too, that doesn't require violence, action, tension or more evocative techniques to pull off an entertaining flick. Lighthearted! 8/10

my thoughts aswell. Aside from the time thing I though the way he portrayed the Bruce Wayne character was a bit...unorthodox/ off putting.
Loved the fact that The Batman finally got to do some actuall detective work in a movie though..

I don' think it was long enough. The length was fine, because I like really long movies. Alil bit more of Bruce's backstory and how he became Batman would of been nice. Also more backstory of the riddler and penguin too. I'm hoping we might get a directors cut on bluray when it comes out.

My thoughts about The Batman (2022):

Pros:
- Has to be one if not the best exhibition of Gotham in live action
- Patterson as Batman was amazing
- Soundtrack was god tier
- The whole cast did a spectacular jod as their characters specially Farrell and Dano
- The most faithfully depiction of Batman as of yet
- Riddler’s portrayal as a villain was brilliant and unique

Cons:
- The film could’ve taken advantage of a rated R rating
- There was not a bit of contrast between Batman and Bruce and this approach didn’t work out so well for me, although I understand it
- There were some aspects in the plot that came outta nowhere and didn’t make much sense

Great coming-of-age story and can’t wait to see more. Think it was a solid 8/10.

I really hope Matt Reeves puts out a rated R directors cut. At first everyone thought this would be rated R, but the studio pushed for a PG-13 rating to get more ticket sales.
