Just rewatched Firefly. How the fuck does a show this good get cancelled after 14 episodes, yet Alien Earth gets renewed for a second season? Our bar of quality in society has fallen off a cliff. Within one episode of Firefly you love and care about every character. In Alien earth you learn to hate them more and more as each episode progresses. Even the little horror elements in Firefly are better than A:E. Travesty.

I feel your pain.
I love the original Alien trilogy and I have no idea how they keep fucking the franchise up so badly.
I gave up with Alien: Earth after 4 episodes. Utter dogshit.

Can't wait!

Bleh weak dialogues chain can be broken, we survive but do not live. The execution is quite poor.

Mind you I feel the same way about Sci-Fi (Star Wars is fantasy) Star trek in particular they've ruined Star trek.

Just like trance music Kuntzman has ruined Star trek completely beyond recognition.

Foundation.

Nearly finished the second season. The production design and sets are amazing, some of the best ever for TV sci-fi. Really believable, yet also successfully 'alien world'. They've chosen fantastic locations and architectural settings, and the CGI and concept is sick too.

Writing is very very average though. Very artificial and often super convenient or contrived moments to further plot. There's nothing clever or gripping about any of it. Barely any grear characters and the drama is so forced. The central premise is also shakey as fuck. Apple shows are almost always like this, they just don't understand what it means to produce well written, compelling stories. Silo was the same. So far would rate the show 7/10, but that's generous tbh.

I read the Asimov books. The story the series tried to tell looks nothing like it.

I can appreciate the fact that they wanted to do something original with the genetic dynasty and brother dawn day dusk clones (props to Lee pace for the acting by the way)…but if you’re going to do that with an Asimov backdrop of how gestalte societal forces shape or break an empire you need to be damned careful not to lose sight of that for the sake of plot devices and drama.

fully agreed on the world building, and I hope the Mule will bring in some needed story..

Finished Foundation S3. Started well, but slowly got worse and worse, with definitely some of the worst writing with seen so far with the show. Last two episodes were very especially poor and the twist was awful. Even set/production design fell off. Won't be watching S4. 57/100

I enjoyed every season so far. I haven't read the books though.
