Im not a watcher of series but everytime i see a commercial for some series they ALL seem the same. Its like its the same actor everytime, same type of "plots". Even if the genre is not the same. Its like this globalisation weve seen the latest decade (s) has made us all the same ???? Same humour, same type of communication with others etc.

They all seem so formula-driven and generic. Its exactly the same with movies, series and music with alot of popular art these days it seem.

Its one of the (many) things that puts me off concerning globalism and metropolitan trends since it inevitably leads to a sort of standardized blend.

its paradoxical whenever I talk to someone who's very pro that stuff, they profess to like the many cultures and diversity, and i agree, but don't seem to grasp that the globalist/metropolitan construct is defacto slowly killing that off, one generation at a time.

Just watched the one dubbed episode of S4. Is it me or has the animation changed, it didn't feel right?
It has changed a bit, before it was produced by Wit Studio and Production I.G. now it's MAPPA - it honestly doesn't bother me much. I still think it's close enough to the "original anime artstyle" from the previous three seasons.

I won't spoil anything, but the next episode is f*cking awesome.

Apparently Wit Studio decided to pass the torch after season 3. The time crunch put on the animators is insane and there was only one studio who said "they would think about it", and that was MAPPA. Every other studio said they couldn't handle it. Wit also felt comfortable with MAPPA taking over.

Yeah I knew about the studio change and i'm wondering if in the back of my mind it gave me some sort of bias or forced me to look for problems that are not there. But something didnt feel right to me and I don't know what, like the animation execution (less the art style) was poor/weirdly done. Is it just me or are other people saying similar things? The opening intro sequence is terrible animation and concept compared to previous. S3 had those beautiful vibrant skies, with lots of detail...this one looks like something made by a university student. Anyway maybe im looking into things too much

Started this one yesterday, and oh boy it's nuts. The plot and cinematography are not particularly good, and it's pretty cliche'd.
It's like crack. Already 4 episodes in and probably going to binge it. Some of the characters' reactions are oddly unpredictable, and I am weirdly invested in the female lead's plight.
What an odd way to end 2020.

edit: Just finished watching it. It was really sad :( Tragedy in Korean drama form.
Glad you liked it, but I honestly can't stand it. The secondary female just had so much unhappiness. It felt like only her her switched mom and birth dad loved her, and she spent her whole life living in a state of tension.

Attack on Titan Season 4 is frustrating. It feels like all these characters are shoe-horned in, and I am being forced to care about them vs. the cast from seasons 1-3. I literally don't care about them, Gabi is an asshole, and I just want the plot to advance to the Eldians in the island.
I'm guessing this is what the manga was like, but damn it killed the momentum and flow set by season 3.
The manga is like that. It jumps back and forth in time with reckless abandon, jumping from character position to character position and either squashing away the interesting bits or forcing the reader to wait several volumes to get to the thing they're actually interested in.

Yeah it's by far the saddest kdrama I've watched (& I've seen quite a few). Her entire life after the switch was miserable.

Oof. It feels very fragmented and choppy. They're trying to go for a non-linear storytelling, but its execution is sloppy. I can see why they would want us to know that the main bad blonde guy is in fact smart and not just an unprepared villain, but having him die at the end of one episode and then presenting us his back story at the beginning of the next episode kills the flow of the story.
I have two pressing issues with this series now that we know a little bit more about the AoT world.
1) We know the world outside of Paradis has fairly advanced technologies. They have photography, steam engines, trains, and aircraft. Here's the kicker: if the outside world has the technology to fly, why did no one ever try flying over Paradis?
2) The Eldians in Paradis are technically adept enough to create a freaking 3d-maneouver gear that can make a single person "fly." Why did no one ever think about creating something like a plane? Were all attempts at inventing flying machinery shot down by the government? Did everyone just assume the rest of the world was a barren wasteland? In 100 years of captivity, wouldn't at least someone be interested in inventing a way to explore while also being safe from the dangers of the titans?

I strongly suspect that these will end up as glaring plot-holes, but I hope the writers can resolve those satisfactorily.

The Expanse is an fantastic sci-fi show. I started watching recently and binge watched all 5 seasons. Best sci-fi show since Battlestar Galatica.

Longmire

Series about a sheriff in a little American town, who investigates murders and whatnot.

The first few episodes aren't that interesting (or different from all the other detective series), just a little bit different in its setting and the main character. Not sure how I feel about it. It's pretty watchable but formulaic. People say it gets a lot better after Season 3, but I'm just not sure if I'll watch it until then.

Maybe its time to binge it, I watched the first few episodes but timing was awkward. Been meaning to get into it ever since. Also as a huge scifi buff I never understood why people love Battlestar Galatica, it's slow, drama driven, even boring. Always reminds me of Stargate Universe, uh.

I just finished the "Valahalla Murders", Icelandic series. Decent

I prefer any foreign thriller series like that. "The Break", french i think was really good.

A theme of murder thrillers for me, or Sci-Fi. The new Ridley Scott "Raised by Wolves" was ok - started very well but went wayward.
