I watch a lot series.

I recently noticed that i have the strange habbit in where i feel like watching 2 episodes of 30 minutes is easier then 1 episode that runs for 50-60 minutes.

Same thing with movies. i think most of them are too long these days. What happend to 90 minutes movies?

Am i the only one who feels like a lot of shows could benefit from shorter episodes?

Raised by Wolves - Usually love HBO content but this one I couldn't even finish, watched about 6 episodes. ShockingTV really, very dumb, cliche, poorly acted, embarrassing things to further the plot. Style over substance and not even that stylistic. Loads of the same problems with Alien Covenant in this show, Ridley has lost it I think. 5.4/10
I'm halfway in this series and i agree with the Covenant analogy. that being said I actually find RBW actually quite enjoyable. Its like he's trying to forge a creation myth in the near future.
there's Romulus and Remus, Horus, the book or Revelatiosn, Hyperion, the virgin mary android, a nonbeliever turned prophet you name it. I'm of the opinion that it has the potential to be either, very good, or extremely shit (say: alien covenant)

Depends on the movie. I felt I could sit through the entire Seven Samurai (which is like 3,5 hours), but sometimes I have to turn off 90-minute movies a couple of times. Something, sometimes, just holds your attention better. But sometimes it's the mood/focus/stress on the day etc.

I often pause 20-minute stuff too, and that's stuff I like!

Moj rodjak sa sela (My Cousin from the Village)

Serbian series, only 2 seasons.

I don't know how to explain this, but there's always something magical about a good series/movie that was made in your country. There's just an element of truth and understanding that is not present in stuff from abroad. It doesn't matter if it's a comedy, a drama, slice of life... If it's good, and if it's about the people, it just can't be matched by anything else. And it's the same with books! When the characters are well-written, when the characters can describe us, maybe not individually but as people of this nation, it just beats everything else. Nobody will convince me that Dostoevsky was a better writer than Ivo Andric.

And it's pretty much the story with this. Let's be real here, there are lots of weird directing moments, weird plot points, the story goes a bit off in season 2 (and it also loses its magic)... But it's still very good, often quite a bit philosophical.

And there are just no good or bad people here, good or bad forces. People do good and bad things, often the same people. The separation isn't very clear, which I just love.

You have the charming, eccentric man-whore villager, his wife who takes care of everyone yet still contends with unfaithful husband, you have his old but wise father who is still the owner and the "head" of the household, his wife who lives away and is often alien to the village life and the affairs of the family, you have the main characters' son who is getting married, and his new wife who ran away to be with him, and finally, his stoic, former spy cousin who comes back to the village after being forcefully retired from the military after the war, and there's also a priest who has been forced to go to a small village after he has committed adultery with a popular singer in Belgrade (out of love for the singer and contempt for his wife whom he married because they needed each other to advance their careers). And since the series is placed 2 years after the war, you can see the effect it has had on our mentality, you can see the difference in thinking between generations through their stories. You can hear about what every generation thinks of the decay of morality through the years. There's hard work (village, obviously), and there's sexism (the main character, after his son gets married, tells his son's wife that she should go prepare some food, and that women belong in the kitchen), there's just a little bit of everything, but that little bit tells a lot about our nation.

Season 1 might be the best series I ever saw here. It might not be as good and as complete as the Band of Brothers, or The Wire, but it's just so much better on another level.

Dave is back for season 2!

2 episodes out, loved them both. Bit darker than last season, loving it. Really written well, gotta say. After a messy start to season 1, it's becoming better and better.

Suburra

Finally finished the series - didn't even know the 3rd season was out for months. After such a long pause, I kind of forgot about what happened in seasons 1 and 2, so I watched season 3 with fresh eyes. It's still the Suburra I remember, but I have to say it's just a bit too violent (like, where is the police, really, and the various murders just happen in plain sight, without any legal ramifications), and it feels a bit rushed (which I get, COVID-19 and Italy didn't go well), slightly overblown (I know it always has to be "bigger" than the previous season, and I don't always like that with crime, comedy, thriller series etc), and finally, the ending you could've predicted - it was really one of the few possible for a series of this theme - obviously there's gonna be lots of dead, it only matters who is among them.

I would still say it's worth a watch though, if someone likes the theme of it.

Clarkson's Farm

Jeremy Clarkson, quite possibly the world's most impractical man, becomes a farmer. Hilarity ensues.

Just that premise alone, if you know who Jeremy is, would make you want to watch it (if I may say so myself). From the beginning, I wasn't overly sold, but with each episode I was more and more into it. Typical Clarkson humour, paired with his "brilliant" ideas and efforts is just, as always, awesome. And the supporting characters are properly brilliant - if they held auditions they couldn't end up with better characters!

I have stopped watching tv to be honest. After Burn notice, Hustle and Grand Tour or anything related to Jeremy Clarkson.

Bruce Parry in the Artic.

Captivating TV that's a 5 episode series. Been on BBC2, available on iPlayer. Best thing I've watched on a long time. I have massive respect and jealousy for Bruce who's an avid traveller and visits indigenous cultures in desolate locations. The Artic series is one of his best yest.

Flaked

It's pretty alright, but also plain vanilla. I failed to connect with any of the characters, and that is key in a series like this one. Didn't watch the 2nd season, not really interested in what happens next.

Arrested Development

Watched a couple of first episodes, but I feel like I've watched it before already - characters are basically caricatures - whether it be in Community, Parks & Rec etc... The humour is in all the crazy things that happen to them, and in the characters themselves, but it feels a bit overblown and overdone. I failed to connect with any of the characters, maybe that's the difference.

Not really interested in continuing to be honest. Had a few good laughs but nothing that would make me watch the entire first season.

What do others think?

I personally hate Disney's canon. I don't consider it to be canon at all, I only recognize the expanded universe as canon. Everything Disney does with Star Wars is a mockery of what George Lucas did.

You are not the only one, haha

I watched the first episode of Star Trek Discovery season 3 last night. Meh! i hate Alex Kurtzman's version of Trek. I can't accept it as being canon in the prime universe.

I agree - Discovery is shit, so is Lower Decks and so is Prodigy which is another animated show featuring characters from TNG and Voyager. The music, acting, design, storytelling it's all over the place and the graphics are stunning but they are way too polish (FUCK you Lens flare (I am looking at you JJ Abrams) for a Star Trek show. They don't allow the show to breathe. The only Star Trek show that is not titled Star trek is probably The Orville.

I don't know about Star Trek: Strange New Worlds haven't found the trailer for it.

The New Star wars is horrible too. Mandalorian is the only good star wars show I found to be close to Star Wars.
